Black Men

The job/college thing some of you mentioned earlier in the thread intrigues me. As an black man, we don't usually hear anyone tell us, "hey, we need an black guy, you got it and that white guy isn't getting it cause of the numbers game". Like, it's crazy to me that they'll actually tell a white guy"I can't hire you cause you're white". Is that legal? To tell someone something like that so blatantly ?

As far as who gets it worse, black men or black women, i'm going with black women. Like it or not, I think because more and more non black women dig black men romantically and white guys like us as entertainers, we have it easier. It sounds harsh but I think it's true. Unless you're oprah or(in some circles recently) maybe Beyonce, black women aren't as respected.

This has been on my mind for a few days...

But I've been thinking about the way some have racist feelings towards blacks; and maybe I'm wrong about this, but is it just me or does it seem like people don't hate blacks in general but mostly black men?

I mean, with black women there aren't that many things to hate IMO, but black men seem to get the most hate from anyone.

Is it because of the stereotypes that most have about black men, maybe something more, or am I just being crazy?

OK, let's not turn this into a "white men are getting screwed" thread.

So it's okay to make a black men are more hated when black women thread? But it's not okay to cover topics of other races in that thread even when there is a logically progression to the conversation?

I thought this was going to be a thread for pictures of hot black guys haha

.

Yeah, I guess if my friend had a recorder going when the sheriff told him that, he might be able to make a case.

Well, I know the stereotypes with black women seem to involve them apparently having nasty attitudes and being loud and obnoxious; I'm sure there are probably more but those are the only ones I knew of.

With men, our's involve us being nothing but unintelligent criminals who care about nothing but money and harming someone for the stupidest reason (i.e. colors, being looked at wrong, not being intimidated by, etc.)

black women have various stereotypes, the uneducated loud mouth fatass type, the big butted hussy type which of course are true but its as equally true in white women (I have a white uneducated loud fatass mother)

I don't think racism necessarily always means "hatred".

There are definitely some things about various ethnicities (including my own) that annoy me. And yes, a lot of stereotypes have their basis in fact. It often rather amuses me that black men forget the one or two important stereotypes in their favor when making lists of the negative ones.

It's great that we could elect a black president, but it doesn't change the socioeconomic situation of many urban areas. Lots of black communities are in disrepair. Schools are crumbling. Families are being torn apart by the scourge of drugs and violence. It's real.

And it's unfair. There still aren't enough opportunities for young black men and women, even today.

The same can be said for white communities, white schools, families, and yes, for opportunities for white people. It isn't fair, but then, life isn't particularly fair.

I feel that it's the opposite. People seem to hate black women. I mean I like girls of all color. But the media acts as if a woman is not under a certain level of color, she is ugly.

Look at Sheva Alomar of Resident Evil 5. She should be black as night, but they made her far lighter than she should be.

However, shows like Heroes and Lost have black male characters that are REALLY dark. Like the Haitian from Heroes or Mr.Echo from Lost?

I'm not racist or anything, I just like using the term ******.
