The Dark Knight BOF: New Dent RUMOUR

Clint the Moviehole dude recently answered regarding the impatience of Batman fans too on the Dent casting by saying that its also much more economical and no word yet on this actor. Ryan Phyllippe might still have a chance (this part dont know whether Clint was serious or joking).
On some movie front news Guy Pearce is also rumored to sign up for the L.A. confidential sequel so he might likely lose the Harvey Dent candidacy too.

I wouldn't mind Hawke as Harvey. He's a very good actor.

His introduction in Assault on Precinct 13 was ****ing awesome.

I would love to see Ethan Hawke, I recently watched Taking Lives and was impressed to say the least. Training day was excellent as was his bit part in WAKING LIFE...

Well it could be a bad pick for Hawke due to the fact that most would rather have another actor. Also, even if it is a challenge to him, he should know his limits and if he did he'd realize he can not go past the everyman character he usually portrays. He has played the bad guy before but I don't think this is his fit and you all know that. I'm not denying his talent but he is more suitable to play a cop, (if Gordon was even younger than before) than to play a sinister looking character. That is all Tommy Lee Jones did right in BF. He looks and sounds villainous as Two Face. Had Jones had to play Dent as Dent it would have been a stretch. Hawke is approachable looking and nothing about him is debonair like Harvey is. Just a bad fit.

You minds as well say the same for 4/5 of the entire BB cast.

If he thinks he can do it and Nolan thinks he can do it, I see no reason why he shouldn't go for it. Any rising actor should know there's no such thing as "limits".

Well thats from my point of view if I was Hawke. But in not being Hawke I don't think this is his role. Nor did I think Ledger deserved Joker. But maybe (and he does) Nolan knows more than me.:woot:

I am a huge fan of Hawke, especially as Officer Hoyte in Training Day, but I don't picture him in this role. Maybe he can do it. Truth is, I like him alot, I shouldn't doubt him.

Hawke is a good actor, he can play suave and also play with an edge I think he'd make a good Dent.

no one expected ledger as a genuine candidate as the joker, so i don't see why he can't be dent. I think he's a great actor and will bring a lot to the role, as it seems to be the case with all the actors nolan picks for his movies. He has a good eye, assuming he's the one making that decision.

I wouldnt mind Matt Dillon for Dent. I mean the man looks it and is a very good actor.

I like either Hawke, Denzel or Hartnett as Dent right now....

please be joking....please.

I don't think a black actor should play Dent for obvious reasons, and i also think Denzel is too old. And Hartnett? This must be a sick joke :cmad:

I think Joaquin Phoenix is the man to do it.

I like Phoenix, Schreiber, or Dillon. I'm not against Hawke either.

Pheonix has the same problem as Denzel and DiCaprio - he'd overshadow the lead characters and dominate the film in both name presence and intensity of performance. And they are all disaproportionately expensive. And Denzel is too old.

I've thought of Hartnett a few times, it's not ridiculous as it seems at first. He's got the right age, cocky swagger, golden boy charms crossed with stone cold brooding, and a deep confident voice that's either warm or imposing. Also if you've seen Lucky Number Slevin you'll know he has actually learnt to act. In two years time, with Nolans direction he may be able to pull off a nice dual identity laced with rage and despair. Don't bash his acting until you see Lucky Number Sleven.

Quick one.

Great manip Artos! Like how you didn't go too freakish with the scarring and there isn't a defined line down the centre of his face.

I have no real problem with Ethan expect for yeah, sometimes he's a bit meek and wimpy. When it comes to Face's rage all of Ethans posturing might just come across a little amusing and pathetic.

I'm still with Clive Owen, though I suspect Nolan will pick someone none of us have considered so far.

Id Rather Brokebat Mountain Then Him, No Offense To Him, Hes A Great Actor........but Not Suitable For The Role, He Doesnt Fit The Part, Liev Schrieber All The Way

Actually, Hartnett could be pretty good as well. I don't know about Phoenix being "too popular" to overshadow the actors, but you could be right. Matt Damon definitely would, but I think he'd be good too.

Hawke, Schreiber, and Matt Dillon would be good because they're good actors and they wouldn't trump Bale. I don't know if Phoenix would either after The Prestige and Harsh Times.

Hawke would be... subpar. That's the only way I can really put it. He's not a bad actor, they could do a lot worse, but it's just kind of... meh. They could do a whole lot better.

Ethan Hawke, Josh Harnett,Phoenix and even Jonathan Rhys Meyers
all have a bit of this boyish debonair similarities.
Hawke is not my favorite but better than Ryan Philippe.

Nice. Real nice. THis would fit well into Nolan vision for Batman.

Ethan's a solid actor so I got no real problem with this choice.

Ethan Hawke?

Yeah, I could sdee this guy as Dent.

I certainly have no problem with the casting, if true. In fact, I'd consider it to be a fine addition to an already impressive cast.

Like Bale, Hawke has made a career of playing different types of people (both visually and characteristically) so It'd be interesting to see his take on playing the cultured characteristics of Harvey Dent opposite his manevolent ones of Two Face.

Certainly a better choice that Phillippe (who looks too damn young imo)
