The Dark Knight BOF: No TDK at WW Chicago?!

Relax buddy; what their doing is in reality, very smarty.

Anticipation makes the appetite grow stronger ;)
excel everyone knows that you think that showing less is better. hey i agree. but if you hadnt noticed we are fans on a message board. we want footage :woot:

and even you have to admit that its strange.

Less now = More later :)
in 2006 i remember superman fans saying that the reason they didnt show any flying and action was because the CGI is not finished. then if you look at spidey 3,transsformers,... you see that the CGI can be finished . fact is that there was nto enough action and flying shots to realese.

thats why i am afraid that something is wrong here.

Less now=less people going to see it

Nope, you got it backwards.

More now=more people will forget about it once it opens

More next summer = more buzz around time of release = more ticket sales

How much did Transformers have at this time last year???????Aside from that tiny teaser????

From a film marketing perspective....its FAR better to hold off and unload your budget in the final few months reathe than spread it out over the course of a year.

Yeah but it was a teaser that had footage from the movie........nevermind the more WB pulls Batman back, the less a casual movie goer is likely to see it

how much? how about a teaser with footage ?
come on to easie :woot:

^footage that wasn't used in future advertising whatsoever.

Ok....how much did Pirates 2 have at this point?

Ok; how does pulling out a COMIC CONVENTION for comic fans mean the casual moviegoer is less likely to see it??

B/C WB seems to not want to hype up or market this movie at all, its about buzz and all WB is doing is killing the buzz

you are talking to a guy who from the beginning said that they should have tootage only for the teaser. :o

I can't say I'm *that* surprised. Nolan works at hard at being a director and I would much rather have his perfection on the teaser and footage than some 'Just-Filmed-Watch-It-Clip' they'd all show us.

Don't throw a huge hissy fit - Warners knows exactly how they plan to market this film and they're probably thinking of a way to market this bigger and better than Begins.

It's a year away.

Most people seemed to have responded well to the viral campaign so far. It would have been nice to have something at the Cons, but it's not necessary. Do you really think anyone who pays attention to such conventions isn't going to see TDK because there was no presence in San Diego or Chicago, especially if the marketing closer to the release is kickass?

I was waiting for them to shoot themselves in the foot.

Any of you saying this is smart need to stop deluding yourselves. They lost a prime advertising power here.

Now, back to my coffin.:bat:

You people complain a lot. Just because you are pissed that they are not going to show any footage. Cmon people give me a break this movie doesn't come out till July of next year. There is plenty of chances for them to show you some footage to this movie. It will get a Trailer in December it will probally get a SB spot and it will probally get another trailer in April or May. Get a Grip people.

the problem with posts like this is :
stop complaining that there is nothing one year away. then you writte stop complainig that there is no teaser with HP. stop complaiing that there is no footage at WW. stop complaining that there is no teaser in december.
stop complaining that there is no action in hte final trailer. and so on.

it is normal to have something at comic con. if not at CC then at least at WW. it is normal that a big budget movie has a teaser one year away.

We also have to remember that we represent an audience that is already "hooked" but which also has heightened expectations. Balancing our expectations with the need to entice the general movie-going population requires quite a bit of discretion and diplomacy, and not everyone is going to be kept happy. Who knows what goes on behind the scenes that drive some of these decisions?

That said, I do think that if they don't have a presence at WW, they've done themselves and the film (and the fans) an injustice. Bad planning? Corporate politics? Who knows what the reason is, but it's bad business. I thought it was a mistake to not have a big presence at Comic Con, but was willing to live with a significant presence at WW. If Jett's report is true ... now what? Will they set up a booth at the local flea market?

Ah well, we've waited this long. I plan to wait a little longer and see where this is going before I get too riled.

Stop complaing that the movie only made 150 mil, but cost 200 mil so WB is canceling the franchise................again

The Dark Knight is their tentpole film of next Summer. It probably a marketing budget between 45 and 50 million. Of course they wanna hype it, they just wanna spend their money smartly. Wasting $$$ going to comic conventions is stupid.

You guys need to realize...wether they release the trailer now, or in May 2008, the fanboys will be equalliy excited. So you tell me for the general audience, will it be esier to sustain hype for 2 months, or for 12????

Thats why I am kind of mad their even wasting their money with this Simpsons teaser. They should have slapped with Harry Potter and then aired it with I AM LEGEND and debuted it's first footage with the Super Bowl and made sure it was incredible. Then theatrical trailer with Speed Racer and Indiana Jones, and then unload the remaining 80% of your marketing budget with tv spots, posters, and billboards in June and July.

The Spider-Man 3 teaser, even if it revealed a bit too much, created a lot of hype and buzz, so I don't think you're right, Excel.

Obviously it's not Normal for a Big Budget Movie to have a Teaser One Year away. Do you see Indiana Jones have a Trailer Yet? No What about Iron Man No. So just stop whining.

Agreed, WB have missed there mark several times, I just feel like this is starting to become a trend that will end up being very bad for TDK........plus you'd like to see them try to throw out as big a net as possible, and no teaser w/ HP or TF and then canceling or not even showing up to conventions that get worldwide press coverage, just seems like a missed opportunity, Schumacher's 2 films soured a lot of people on Batman, I would just like to see them try everything to make sure those people come back.
