Boston Marathon Terror Attack - Part 3

Interesting first post.

I guess people come to the superhero forums to get in on the juicy terror attack/political talk they're so known for.

Nah. Iv'e posted here before under another name I had through another email, although not often. I lurk in the marvel forums mostly because I don't have much to say being one of those people who only collects trades.

I was being a smart ass (not directed at the person posting, just in general) I do think it's funny though that the media doesn't go into detail about the fact that a lot of these incidents were known about prior or instigated by the authorities and our government

April 24th news Georgia Sen. Saxby Chambliss told Channel 2 Action News late Tuesday afternoon that a law enforcement agency may have had information in advance of the Boston bombings

also Former FBI employee Sibel Edmonds states bombers could have been recruited by the FBI

also see underwear bomber and links to CIA or Ramzi Yousef and his links with the FBI.

Unfortunately and with respect to the victims this has tell tale signs of the same scenario.

I read in my local paper that the younger brother, this from his friends that knew him said how normal he was. How he talked about liking peanut butter, marshmallow fluff and Nutella. How he had posters of Einstein & 12 bikini clad girls. Always talked about girls and the normal stuff. They couldn't still accept the fact that he was one of the bombers even knowing what they know now. And I wonder if this was true that he went to a party after the bombings and actually bragged about and no for one minute took him seriously, thought that he was joking. What I wonder is why didn't anyone see or ask about changes in him, how he went from normal kid to terrorist. He must have been planning all this for a long time. It didn't just happen over night.

His big brother probably played a big role. I think they got a name out of the younger brother, "Misha" or something like that.

I'm very curious to hear more about the FBI investigation of the older brother. A lot of people are saying that they pretty much dropped the ball somewhere along the way and it just makes me wonder how many other people have they let slip by unknowingly.

I think part of it might be they didn't take the investigation seriously since it was Russia who asked them to do it. It might've been like "Pfffft. Whatever."

Did they uncover any threat of attack with him or any clear link to identified and confirmed terrorist organizations?

Probably, although I'm even more shocked that now they're saying Russia also went to the CIA, who did nothing as well.

No, but they said he was put on the No Fly list, which the FBI watched for about a year. During that time, its possible that they knew or were alerted of when he went Russia, but the watch was off by the time he returned, so I assume that they had just decided to drop the case at that point.

Damn. I'm heading to NYC in 2 weeks. Kinda makes you think....what if.
Just to clarify on this a bit, its now being said that the brothers were planning to "party" in NYC. However, it's not clear whether this means they were literally going to have a party here, or if it was figurative and that they were going do more. But with the way that they were still packing explosives days later, I can't help but think that they were going to more attacks somewhere.

I still think that there is a knee-jerk reaction that is somewhat arrogant to think that there's got to be a conspiracy or what have you connected to a crime so simply committed. Not that that's what you're specifically claiming, but it comes up a lot. When in reality it doesn't take a lot of means if you have the will to commit evil. Plus...and hate to put it this way, with all due respect to the victims....as far as attacks go this was pretty unsophisticated and amateurish in its scale as well as covering their tracks if they didn't plan on dying with the explosives.

I would say you'd have to see who else they put on that list to get a clearer picture of what they 'missed'. Like there may be a bunch of people on 'the list' who never did anything and had no more or less red flags than he did at the time.

Russia asked the U.S. to look into the older brother. The investigation turned up nothing. So the U.S. asked Russia for whatever info they have on him that prompted the request. Russia refused to turn over the info. This repeated a few times. The U.S. was never able to turn up info and Russia never helped despite making the repeated requests for investigstion.

Yeah, that's why I say I'm curious to hear more because I heard earlier that there was one list that had thousands of names, some of which were just John Doe repeated several hundreds of times. I heard one debate about how there were just too many databases out there that weren't really linked the right way and how it is difficult to really sort things out. So if that's the case, then I think this definitely has to be an eye opener for improvements that can be made to. It obviously doesn't change what happened here, but at this point what's done is done and we can only focus on not allowing this to happen again.

It almost sounds like Russia didn't want to get involved in something that may have proved their suspicions wrong. Either that, or they didn't trust us with the information or reasons for interest in the brother.

And was this the only case, or did a lot of these happen with no info returned? I would think that quite a few of these happen every day, and only the ones with more info can be followed, so to speak.

I don't believe he intended to be run over by his own brother... but yeah.

So that's why he had that huge wound on one side? (A coworker showed me the image... it's quite disturbing)

Actually, that wound is likely where the tried to tube him. Reports said he came into the hospital barely alive, so my guess is they still tried to save him. I think that's what that is honestly.

Does anyone else find it silly that a defense attorney was brought on who's primary goal is to get him out of the death penalty....yet if he goes to prison he won't live past a day?

He's not gonna get out of the death penalty anyway.

I haven't kept up to date with the latest news today, but I imagine they're doing it just because they want to make sure they do everything by the letter of the law and that he gets a fair trial.
