Bought Thought, July 2nd, 2008

I know I run kind of hot and cold on the Hype...but, I think I got really tired of it when the Mods made all the changes to the structure. Sure, structure is good...but, old favs, like Sparta's Marvel Character Contest was shoved to a whole new corner...and, if someone has a question thread, it gets shoved instantly to the "Stupid Question" forum at times...or, they are told there is already a thread for this made a year ago, and why the hell are you starting a new one. It kind of feels like Mom telling you to clean up your room or something. It really became very anal.

So, is the Hype going to a slow death? I cannot remember a time that a Bought/Thought thread was only two pages long. (Plus, many times, I notice some of the longer threads are just a couple of regulars debating with themselves.) Where is everyone nowadays???
Funny thing is, this is the first time in probably a month that I've posted something in a B/T thread. I always forget to post my reviews on Wednesday, see 5-6 pages posted by Thursday, and figure I shouldn't bother. One week later, and this one has barely gotten to 3 pages.

A lot of people who used to post in the b/t threads lik ea year ago are banned now.

All we get are pagelong reviews from Dread and just about everyone elses review flies under the radar. One of the reasons I've stopped posting in them as much.

You know, that and I use "user CP" to find posts instead of looking for new threads.

It's not a bad thing though. At least the B/T thread now does what the title suggests, there may be less pages but they are actually reviewing comics and there isn't pages of junk.

Dread's reviews are always excellent and appreciated

So I don't get it. When ASSHAT used to roll in and having witty banter for pages and pages people complained "OMG I NEED MORE DREAD REVIEWS!". Now, we cut it out and people are like "WHERE IS EVERYONE?!". Pick a side dammit.

Also, Dread's reviews are not always excellent and are never appreciated. They're just long.

You just can't win can you...

Ok I'll re-phrase I THINK Dread's reviews are excellent (I just take the anti -bendis as a given) and I appreciate them

What's wrong with length?

I find it much more fun to read than - WHEDON RULEZ!!!

Nothing, I'm just stating a fact. No need to get defensive about it.

Because he does "pro" reviews. You know, where he goes for a whoile paragraph on the artist or a concept that might happen, stuff like that.

Sometimes I just wanna get spoilers on an issue and if it's any good or not, I don't wanna read a booksworth to get my general overview of a comic.

That said, I still read a good portion of the books I read that he reviews, just to see his take on them.

What if it's the complete opposite?

Standard Whedon comic Dread Review:

Length: 4-5 Paragraphs.

Composition:
Paragraph 1- *****ing about lateness
Paragraph 2 &3- Info on the issue
Paragraph 4- More *****ing about Whedon being late/overrated.
Paragraph 5- Detailing classic Whedonisms that everyone already knows and 2-3 sentences on his actual thoughts on the issue.

It's pretty similar to his Bendis review template except you have to add ***** about Bendis at the end of every paragraph and references to other crappy Bendis comics that have nothing to do with the Bendis comic he's actually reviewing.

Yeah, although you have to admire his stamina. Even I got tired of bashing Bendis at every opportunity, but Dread's been hanging in there like a champ for years now.

Holy crap, you mean he actually drops books he doesn't like?

If you want us to come in and pad the thread with our bulls**t we could. But somebodies gonna have to play Photo Jones here, and I don't have enough *****e bag in me to pull it off.

I do, just not enough knowledge of the users/comics =(
