I bought Civil War but haven't read it yet. I am currently living in IC #7 world and it is good. Same thing for The Thing #6, loved #5 though.

The thing here though is that while they are definately making it difficult for themselves by putting Cap on one side, they really do seem to be writing it very unbiased. The whole "Aren't Supervillains people that put on masks and break the law?" line was very well delivered, and the tone surrounding the accident and the public backlash does seem to make the Registration a much more logical route for the public to want to take.BrianWilly said:Another nitpick, albeit a bit more significant: Someone brought up in the other Civil War thread that it's simply not realistic for Millar to say that there are no "right" sides in this war because just by having Captan America take sides you are inherently advocating that the side he is on is better than the other, and I think that sense is very prominent in this issue. Isn't he supposed to be "the" hero, after all? Isn't he supposed to be the flawless, shiny-toothed emblem of morality in this universe? Iron Man isn't as iconic, Spider-Man's the fallible everyman, and Wolverine is the anti-hero, but Cap is The Man. He's the symbol, the icon. When you have him say, "This is wrong," how exactly do you effectively argue the ambiguity of the issue...especially when you're proposing that the other side isn't completely right, either? And especially moreso when the most present voice arguing against him in this issue is Agent Hill, who's being written as a sneering, posturing, unlikeable bully...pretty much the way that most corrupt government officials get written.

roach said:I guess there is something wrong with me or maybe I am just prejudiced against Marvel comics(but I did like MK...hmmmm). This issue seemed to hinge on some pretty impossible things happening.....
1) The New Warriors complete incompetence(why is Speedball being blamed for this when he isnt the team leader?????)
Speedball was the one who went forward with it and was caught on cmaera trying to convinve his teammates to go after villains after his other teammates told him he was out of his league, but he wanted ratings.
2) Shield asks Cap to help them take down the heroes who dont comply with registration IF/WHEN it gets passed. The law hasnt even been passed and already people are lining up to fight each other?????
Maria Hill is a *****, but shes a smart *****. She said in the issue that the law was probably going to pass and they werent going to go into this halfcocked was the term she used I believe. She knew what was going to go down once the law passed and wanted to be prepared.
3) The Watcher showing up. Sure I miss the big guy but doesnt he usually show up when the universe is in peril...I cant imagine him watching C-Span to see what measures are getting passed in the US government.
Well the Watcher gets bored out there all by himself. And Dr. Strange said he only shows up in times of great peril. I think having the USA in the midst of a war between heroes is a time of peril. The Watcher has to watch this happen *rimshot*
4)The pros and cons of registration wasnt explained. Seems to me that the heroes would get benefits and get paid but the bad side wasnt explained. Where was it stated that they had to give up their identity to the government?????
Yellowjacket said why should they be able to hide behind masks. It wasnt said outright but implied that they would have to give up their identities. And why should they have to work for the government. Wasp said they'd become civil servants, they pretty much work for the government. And Cap said that he wont have Washington telling them who is a Super villain and who isnt.
5)Why would Captain America be the one to voice a distrust of the government pointing the heroes at the enemy....when the government has been pointing him at the enemy(in one form or another) most of his life.

Read any interview with a creator on a DC book and then compare it to the way some creators speak about the characters on Marvel books...and it makes you wonder why these guys are in this business
roach said:I think I was semi joking. I had mentioned in in my original rant post. I just hate to see the way things are with Marvel. I love these characters to death and it seems like the guys on the books dont even respect that.
