Civil War #4-Everyone can shut up now. It's here!Lots of developments in this one:

Sue helps the rebels escape the fight, she and Johnny leave the BB and are now Secret Avengers,
Pete confides in Hank about maybe picking the wrong side,
Goliath bites it,
Thor is a clone from skin cells and hair from the first time the Avengers met,
Cassie,Cable and Nighthawk leave Cap's team,
A mysterious masked man in a black trenchcoat stalks the Secret Avengers hideout (IMO it's Punisher),
Cap's team gains 23 new members, causes Iron Man's team to worry since they've lost members since the fight, they enlist the aid of super-villains to take down Cap's team

Even though some of these I saw coming,it's another quality issue from Millar and McNivvy.Sue's letter to Reed was well written and hearfelt. The death really pissed me off,but I guess they HAD to kill someone.:whatever: Hank's reaction was well played out. Also note that he wasn't in the final scene with Tony and Reed, which could me he bounced to the other side. I'm also looking forward to the dude sneaking around being revealed. If it's who I think it is,it's going to be very badass.

9/10

Superman #654-655-Picked this up after looking to get into some regular continuity Supes.A very good balance of character moments and action. The whole "WHAT IS SUBJECKT-17?" thing doesn't overshadow the book.Pacheco's art looks great with Stewart's coloring.I loved the scenes with Clark and Lana as well as Clark with Lois. This is on the pull list without a doubt.

9/10

Astonishing X-Men #17 - another good issue, and now that it's monthly, it no longer has to reckon with the pacing issues that mauled the last several. We finally get a big junk of explanation (or, at least, information; it hasn't all been pieced together yet) for the Hellfire Club's activities. I wish that we could find a way to synthesize Astonishing's dialogue and art, Uncanny's plot, and New's edge; that would be the Holy Grail of X-books.

Civil War #4 - a good issue, although the long wait (made to seem even longer by all the complaints about delays) perhaps raised expectations a bit too much (the bimonthly issues of Astonishing X-Men suffered from the same problem). The "big death" was exactly who I thought it was going to be, by process of elimination. More interesting where the various people leaving the teams.

It would be quality IMO if it was an alternate universe what If? storyline...

Probably be accalimed on the lines of Earth X etc..

But it is tearing down the marvel Universe...no one has redeeming hero values, and the story just makes me feel queesy and hate everyone i thought i liked.

simply becuase this is 616, Civil war has truly failed.

*Does a little dance*

Clones are awesome, blossom.

I don't know about the timeframe here but I thought it might be
matt murdock which would explain why he was telling sally to check out the wording of the document, loopholes and hidden clauses etc. Dunno but i'd prefer you to be right on this one really :o

Why do Cassie, Cable, and Nighthawk leave?

And who are the new 23 team members?

Nighthawk was in Civil War after #1?

Meh, i'm going with Punisher as well.

Cable leaving doesn't make any sense when you consider his characteration in C&P #30

I know, big events, this always happens.:cmad:

I'm reading it now and must say that the art is 10/10.

Cable doesn't explicitly say that he's leaving, actually (only Nighthawk and Stature do). Possibly, his walking out is just meant as a segway to his confrontation with the President.

Thee last page of Civ War 4 was more of a shock than ANYTHING in that book or 'event' as of yet.

CIVIL WAR #4: Pretty good stuff, I won't spoil the two major things people are griping about, but I'm okay with them. How 'bout that final page? Tony and Reed are mentally insane.

ASTONISHING X-MEN #17: Another stellar ish from Whedon & Cassaday, as expected. Wolvie's dialogue wasn't quite up to humorous par, but this issue had a darker tone about it anyway. Whedon disorients the reader with the first few pages, to teriffic effect. Also, I love everyone's hospital dialogue, spot-on. So right. Wolvie's awakening was great--funny and oh-so-cool. I loved how a camera's focus was replicated by two panels on this page, surely a request from Whedon's television-oriented mind:up: Surprises abound. The mole revealed! It's not who you thought. Also, big final page, not exactly a surprise, but cool nonetheless. Could Cassaday be any better? Great writing, great art, my favorite book on the shelves.

52 WEEK #20: coming soon

I also bought the first Runaways...ugh...digest.:csad: Why haven't they released this book in trade paperback, I can't bear to put these dirty things on my shelf and I don't like hardcovers either so don't suggest that.:cmad:

I have to agree and I'm not even reading it apart from the discussions on here and preview pages. And is that really what's up with Thor? Sounds kind of stupid to me.

On the Civil War mystery man front, whoever said
Punisher
might be right, as he appears to be holding a handgun...

i liked Civil War 4 - was it worth the wait? probably

hopefully they have a slam-bang finale planned. the last page certainly opens lots of crazy possibilities

Yeah, or one possibility, that being all those guys trying to kill Spider-Man, a la issue 5's shown-months-ago cover.

Civil War #4 - I wasn't suprised by Goliath's death as i was one of those that "predicted" his demise. I shed a tear at the way he went down, heroic to the end as a hero should. I wasn't suprised to find out that Thor was a clone. I could tell by his first line of dialog that wasn't him. I was suprised at how fast Herc regrouped (but i probably shouldn't have) and Sue and Jonny leaving. I was somewhat shocked at Reed's total lack of compasion of Goliath's death. Cap's resolve is beyond believe, the man just won't go down and stay down and i liked, no I loved how Sam took control and i can see why Cap trusts him like no other since Bucky.

How is that less believable than a god actually existing?

Twisted logic. Its not the believability, its the uber lameness of it.

Yeah I noticed that too, he must be Caps number 2 man.

Im glad they killed Goliath, only to see celldog's reaction.
