BOUGHT/THOUGHT Thread for 6/21/06: SPOILERS Inside!

Ill take credit for this.

might have been because I was about to quit altogether reading comics.

I read and enjoyed Batman: Hush, Identity Crisis, and Green Lantern Rebirth. Outsiders were okay for a while (I borrowed my brother-in-law's copies), but I lost interest in them quickly. I tried to read the minis leading up to Infinite Crisis but I got bored. Then I tried Infinitie Crisis itself, and while there were some cool scenes, overall I didn't really care about it. The only ongoing thing that I've tried to read that's caught my attention is the whole Jason Todd thing with Batman. I've given a few other titles a shot, but just couldn't get into them.

I can never see myself at that juncture, the longest ive gone without reading comics is 6 months and that was due to financial reasons.

I did quit for some years and when I got stationed in San Diego I went to comicon and met Claremont and that is what got me back into comics

Due to current financial and lack of job situations I've not been able to buy any comics for about 2 months now, but fortunately I've learned how to download them so I can at least keep myself up to date until I can get out to buy the comics (or the trades if I switch to that method like I'm thinking of doing)

Wierd. I've found all the main DC books to be lot more interesting now that IC has passed and OYL has begun. I can't see how they've been disappointing you. Different strokes I guess.

Out of curiosity, what's this mean?

I am on shore duty now(Navy) in November I am going to Marine Infantry School and then Riverine school and then Iraq

Cool, I see. I have a high respect for our military, so I wish you luck.

DC has been dropping down some disappointing books the last 2 weeks.

Like which ones? 52 has been consistent as hell and Justice was amazing.

Justice is one book that I am curious about. I've looked through the first few issues, and most everyone seems to like it, so I'll probably get the trade when it's released.

Robin, The Flash, last week's 52, Nightwing.

somebody recommend a DC book for me (ur slowly gettin on the point there ^). i read Powers, Walking Dead, like the whole realism thing (im gona buy ultimates tpbs) but dont wana read batman -- something gritty with powers in it? im a big spider-man fan, dont mind team books (new avengers) but would rather not pick up another and i hate comics FULL of non-stop talking (these sort are only good in novel form, for me).

When my bro was there, he took his laptop (which I think still has sand in it), and I used to send him DVDs a couple times a week, mostly stuff off of tv. I tried sending him digital comics, but I didn't really have the software at the time to make it in a format that's practical. And I didn't know there were places that you could download them. I was wondering, roach, if you might like us to send you some comics on DVD from time to time? If so, PM us your APO when you get one. (This offer isn't exclusive to roach. I know deemar325 is in the military, also, Army if I recall. And I'm sure there must be other guys here as well.)

I mean, what the hell. It beats racing scorpions, right. (Actually, that does sound cooler doesn't it.)

If you pick any books, last month was a perfect starting point. DC shot one year ahead, so no one really knows what happened in the missing year. Basically, every book is starting fresh, and none of us really knows what is going on.

Also, 52 is a weekly book that explains what happened during the missing year. One for each week.

I would say Outsiders, Teen Titans, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman. Plus the Superman books and Batman books have been solid. JSA and JLA are getting relaunches very soon here, too.

If there's interest in it, I'll start a thread.

How do you do it if I may ask. I have Cdisplay on my comp so I just download torrents, is there another way?

I've laways wanted to read some DC but never knew a good point to jump on. With all your suggestions, will any IC stuff be crucial to my undserstanding?
