I think Super Mario and Barbie are pretty safe for top two.

I feel like things can get worse right now in Hollywood and more movies will be moved to 2024.

And besides, can The Marvels, Dune Part Two, Wonka, Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom hit the 1 billion mark?

Quarter 4 of 2023 doesn't feel jam packed with blockbuster movies.

If Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (love this movie) didn't hit a billion. I don't see how that one would hit $200 million worldwide.

I look at the release schedule at box office mojo and wow, November and December don't really have anything that appeal to me. Aside from the ones I've already mentioned, the others are "will stream, when i find the time/interest".
 
I still think The Marvels has always had the best chance at hitting a billion out of any of the superhero films in 2023. I'm not automatically expecting it to get there, but I won't be shocked if it does.
 
I would be happy for Marvel Studios if it reaches a billion. As it should bring more goodwill and interest to movies like Captain America starring Sam, Thunderbolts, Blade and 4. I feel like a Shang-Chi 2 in 2024 or 2025 would automatically attract more, than those four movies but that one isn't even officially announced yet for some reason.

Right now, the only surehits they have post 2023, are another Deadpool, Spider-Man and Avengers.

I think in the past that would be expected. Sometimes we have multiple Marvel movies doing very big numbers and finishing nearer the top. Ant Man was a disappointment this year.

It did in China which is why they made a sequel in the first place. Meg 2 will probably fare better there.
 
Not just China. Domestically, the film opened to 45M and legged to 145M! WTF? Non-inflation, it’s the second highest grossing shark movie lol
 
I can't remember the last time the top 4 movies made over $25+ million in a single weekend.

AMC Entertainment Rides Box Office Revival To Top Q2 Forecasts – Deadline

Top exhibitor AMC Entertainment rode the box office revival in the second quarter, beating Wall Street forecasts and returning to profitability.

The company posted total revenue of $1.348 billion, up almost 16% from a year ago, and swung to a profit of 1 cent a share from a loss of 12 cents in the 2022 quarter. Analysts had expected revenue of $1.29 billion and a loss of 4 cents a share. Shares in the theater owner gained 4% in pre-market trading, hitting $5.35.
