But, it wasn't released in 2015, it was released in 2014.
In about 4 theaters as limited release. That just seems kind of weird to me to call the highest grossing movie of 2014. I'm glad it did so well , but still
 
Impressive it made it to number 1 for domestic 2014. Congrats to them.
 
WB wasn't expecting Sniper to do as well as it has, they were likely expecting a $100M+ total domestic as being good. I don't think they expected it to make $200M more than expected. And it played extremely well by opening big and smaller drops the following weekends.
 
I know i'm super late but Bradley Cooper deserved an Oscar for his performance.
 
Nomination, yes. But a win? Maybe in another year. There was too much quality in this category this season.

In a slower year, Cooper would have had a chance. But between Keaton and Redmayne, I don't think anyone else was even considered. He has the consolation that 50 years from now, Sniper is more likely to be remembered than Theory of Everything.
