Arrow Brandon Routh IS Ray Palmer/The Atom

It looks better than his Superman Returns suit. :woot:

But like others have said, the helmet is lame, maybe it will look better in action though.

I think the suit looks great. And as for the visor, I'd say

A) It can be darkened when needed

B) Ray plans on being a public superhero and won't be keeping his identity a secret (which is what I'm honestly hoping for, it would make for a good dynamic between him and Oliver)

He should keep his identity secret to protect himself, the people he loves and his company, you don't want villains and terrorists attacking Palmer Tech or be completely paranoid that an attack could happen anywhere, anytime.

The suit is looking good as Brandon Routh will do better as Atom than he ever did as Superman. I can Ray Palmer moving over to the Flash permanently as he fits there more than Arrow.

yes this true the only to for him to be a public figure is if he has o ever et close to him which won't make sense also he really have to have say the president of the usa level of body guards which will shame diggle ( he has been that for a while) which will really be sad. but the fact that at any event he'll speak at like tech event people will be attacked cause he's there some want's revenge o Ray Palmer cause he help put them in lock up or ruined their plans he made him ad easy target cause he didn't care hide his identity. it will bring too much trouble to the public he'll have to avoid such events like being mentor head out to university lectors or tech events or major press company events outdoor or indoor to the public.

unlike how some certain writers at marvel or dc with the comic's that use selective reasoning & like to push that stuff, there is some level where this can be very limiting if this was the real world point of view. or be very limiting for certain stories to have ray involved in. He'd have to live like a hermit & not to in danger people so avoid human contact until some one or the city is in danger . that way he won't be the cause. they(writers) don't like that idea.

but it hasn't stopped certain Unreasonable writers before.

I feel like something has got to give since I doubt that the producers would go through all the trouble and spend so much money (since the suit looks like it was expensive to make when compared to previous costumes) to make the outfit if Brandon's character wasn't intended to become a consistent major player within the CW-DCU.

I mean his suit is good enough to have him appear in his own show or to at least be a series regular in either Flash or Arrow...though I feel like the latter option would feel weird since Atom's character isn't a sidekick.

I say I rather have Ray take over as head of star labs for a bit til Ted kord shows up or both Ray & Ted can help run the place business wise . cause Dr.well's will have to leave eventually, if when he goes fully dark side & Barry finds out about it.

They will need to be a new boss of the place that's used to handling a budget. he doesn't to be a side kick more like a mentor that helps out saves the day with Barry's is a jam.

Snyder specifically namedropped Blue Beetle when he mentioned bringing in lesser known heroes for Justice League sequels.

And Kord was curiously unavailble for use when the Arrow writers were crafting the role that would eventually become Ray Palmer.

I don't know...I mean if Ray became the new head of Star Labs, that would still limit his hero duties since the show wouldn't have him go out in the field as much as Atom if Barry is around.

With the amount of time that went into making Ray's suit, it seems like it would be a waste to not have him use as much as humanly possible.

Well he did appear in "Smallville" during its final season.

Actually, he looks like "Superman" more than ever. :oldrazz:

nah it wouldn't unless it had to do with some business dealing's but if say barry was in more trouble then usual it would put ray in the field alot more or he'd deal with some other case's that barry's too busy for like them taking turns like when barry is dealing with helping out iris & her boyfriend ( sorry that won't be the case any longer) well iris problems where he's be near her he won't oddly disappear have her wonder where he is/went . perfect partner / mentor for the show. beside he is known a a lab character originally next Ted kord, it makes sense it's a great leap off point

I think the suit looks awesome, and he looks awesome in it.

It is still better than what Zachary Levi (Chuck) got, a small role in Marvel's Thor The Dark World.

I mean.. instead of doing small role in a Marvel movie, he can at least have a more substantial role in a TV series.

Allow me to rephrase...

I'd lose my **** if Ted Kord ever showed up... anywhere... TV or cinema... provided that I thought the housing vehicle was actually worth a damn. :word:

In the midst of all this, let me say that I'm still eagerly awaiting some sort of 'super' pun in relation to Ray. I need this to happen.

If we're going by comic book roles as our standard, sure. But it's not like Fandral is the only role Levi will ever be allowed to play in movies or on TV...

I just hope that they allow Ray to do something more at the end of the show than simply stopping a few crooks with the Atom suit for one scene.

It's funny, he and Chris Evans did the same thing but switched.

Routh went from playing the biggest superhero there was to playing lesser iconic character, while Evans played a lesser character to playing Marvel's biggest superhero.

But yeah, i think they have big plans for the charecter. I think he will either jump ship to Flash full time or get a spin off.

It's funny that both Chris Evans and Brandon Routh were together in same movie (Scott Pilgrim) While the movie was not successful, Evans got the role of Captain America and achieved huge success.

Well, I did some research about Atom over the Internet...and it seems like there would be enough material to at least devote one season to, in regards for a TV Series that is.

And boy, if you think Oliver's love life is strange..wait until you hear about Ray's.

In the comics, Ray ends up having an affair with some alien Princess while married to Jean, while the latter ends up also having an affair with their lawyer before going crazy herself and becoming a villain...while trying to get her ex husband back.

I'm sure the CW and Producers would love all that.haha

Plus, in the comics....Ray is supposedly best friends with Hawkman and one of his main villains happens to be Deathstroke as well...who could easily crossover into Atom's show if they needed him more.

I was wondering what happened with Kord, as I remember him being referenced on Arrow previously, but there was no follow-up. Just did a Google search and saw that he's off limits for the Arrow/Flash TV universe, since DC Entertainment "has plans for him." Interesting.

I just hope that they have actual concrete plans for him. Because he wouldn't be the first to be off limits just for nothing to come of it.

That sounds like that movie "Just my Luck" with Lindsay Lohan and Chris Pine, where Lindsay's character had a string of successes until she accidentally transferred her luck to Pine's character, and then it all went downhill from there. And then real life mirrored what happened in that film.

Maybe some films people just shouldn't act together in, in case it changes the course of their career for the worse. :wow: :o
