Compare and contrast Rouths performance to Reeves. Did Routh Surpass Reeve?

Watching STM again, it is clear that Reeve is more convincing as Superman because of his maturity (Routh looks alot younger despite the fact that they were both 26), his charisma (Routh is lacking in this dept), and the presence Reeve has on the screen. Routh is not bad, but he isn't as good as Reeve.

This is going to equal war, fellas. Trust me. If Bat-fans still argue over Bale and Keaton, I mean....bale is the ****ing Bat, then...yeah.....expect war over this one.

a topic like this has already been deleted. i'm guessing this will soon follow the other one's footsteps.

I don't think it is a fair comparrison to make. Granted, I have yet to see the movie, but from everything I've heard, Routh was limited to a Christopher Reeve impersonation. Thats not his fault, its Singer's and the screenwriter's. You can't compare them as Christopher Reeve created a character, Routh just did an impression of Reeve's character.

I don't see why. Comparrison is inevitable. Certain moderators are being too trigger happy. If someone makes this thread a troll fest delete the person's post and reprimand them. No need to close a thread because of a few bad apples.

I don't think so. His Clark Kent was much more reserved, not an actual goofball, and his Superman was well.....Superman.

His Superman was Reeve's Superman. There is a difference. Notice how TAS Superman was different from the Reeve Superman? How Cain's Superman was different from the Reeve Superman? Reeve is just one interpratation. It is not something people need to feel limited by.

oh i totally agree...i was just making an observation. as far as Routh vs Reeve...i like them equally. Reeve was better as Supes but only because Routh didn't get many lines to work with. i like Routh's Clark better though...

Like I said, its unfair to compare them on any level until Routh is allowed to do his own interpretation of the character and is not limited to Chris Reeve's interpretation.

Well, considering that Cain's Superman sucked.....Brandon did good as Superman. Plus, he's a Superman fan......Reeve was HIS Superman. I wouldn't say he's limited, but he chooses to look towards the best. Can't blame him for that.

I dunno.....I don't think he'd be allowed by alot of people in terms of comparisons.

IMO Routh acted almost nothing like Christopher Reeve. his Clark was drastically different as was his Superman. the only way i can explain it is that Reeve acted like Superman would back in the 70's and 80's but Routh acts how Superman would now-a-days. he might've had a lot of the same lines as Reeve but they were all said differently. but like i said, i like them equally...

Tom Welling. :o

:hypers throw tomatoes:

J/p

I'd have to go with Routh on this one...at least for now.

I think Routh is hotter but Reeve was the true Superman.

Christopher Reeve, but I liked Routh's performance allot, and I want him in all the following SM sequals.
