Rian Johnson directed the episode where Walt almost confessed to Jesse about Jane in Fly and now this episode where he actually did it, and in the most spiteful way possible. Full circle.
Yeah, Ive seen some nice comparison gifs.

post from imdb

There must be some symbolism around that chess board from the fire department.

Initial board - http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2enw9y9&s=5
- we clearly see the king is cornered. Most likely representing Walt being cornered with very few options available. The king is white. Yo, mr. White?

King is moved - http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=f3vskx&s=5
- the white king makes a move. Probably a last spark from Walt to get out of this situation.

Pieces representation:
- the black side has 6 pieces. The black king may be uncle Jack and the other 5 pieces his goons? We know that at the shootout there was uncle Jack, Todd and 4 more guys.
- the white peons may represent Skylar and Jr.? We see the king making a move towards them. Representing Walt's call to Skyler maybe?
- that leaves us the white knight. We see that he is on the other side of the board, near the black pieces. Could it be Jesse? We know that Jesse is being kept by Todd.

Thoughts?

Someone paid a lot more attention than I did, lol. Did he watch the episode frame by frame? :p

some of these comparisons and stuff are just amazing... wow.

I also hear that The Shining is about the faked moon landing. :o

The Sopranos live viewership peaked in season four, it ended 2 seasons later.

You could maybe argue Seinfeld's final 9th season, it was the number one program for their last year. Viewership exploded in season five, peaked in season seven but was still very high for the last two. The only other shows to have their final season be the most watched in TV was The Andy Griffith Show and I Love Lucy. However all three had earlier seasons that were higher rated. I'm not aware if they were the best seasons

Breaking Bad's final season will be its most watched which is very rare, it could be the only show to have more than 3-4 seasons and have the last one be the highest rated. Plus be the critical favourite is insane! Shows end when ratings take a dip and the show becomes less profitable or unprofitable. AMC/Sony could crank out another 2 seasons but they listened to Vince and are going to be apart of TV history.

Mad Men has a slight chance to go out on its last season with its most highest rated season, live viewership is on a slight decline but it could build up for the final year. They also grew viewership every season for five seasons but declining a bit for the 6th.

While Breaking Bad's 6.4 million last night is still small for TV, viewership has grown each season and for it to have its best episode be its most watched is something else. It is truly going out on top, leaving the audience wanting more.

The past 2.5 seasons has really cemented Breaking Bad's place in TV history

Yeah Seinfeld was about the only one I could sort of think of but it was in such a different genre. Not to mention its actual series finale was sort of panned (let's hope that's not the case for BB).

This really does seem to be uncharted territory for a TV series, ending not only strong and relevant but stronger and more relevant than at any point before.

Funny you should bring up The Shining. I was actually reminded of the film last night during Walt's phone call.

I wish we could cool it with the gifs every once in a while. My iPad would thank you. :o

You know, I was watching a review of this episode on the SourceFedNERD youtube channel, and one of the commentators mentioned something that I and probably a lot of us totally missed, something which could possibly lead to explaining why Walt would return to Albuquerque like we saw in the two flash-forward segments.

Jesse has already told Todd about his videotaped confession he made with Hank.

Specifically, as "Meth Damon" was dragging Jesse out of his cell, Jesse said something to the effect of, "I already told you, it's at [Hank's] house. All you have to do is go over there and get."

Guess who is also likely to be at Hank's house? Marie, Skylar, Walt Jr. and Holly. And the commentator said that if Jack and his Neo-Nazi crew go over to Hank's house in search of that videotape and just happen to find Walt's family there, meaning you have more potential witnesses...:wow:

So here's one thing I'm wondering...is Marie going to be fooled by Walt's "abusive husband" phone call too and assume that Skyler was trapped and had no choice in everything? Cause if not, I'd have to imagine she'd go right back to hating her and would put some of the blame for Hank's death on her. It was the fact that she knew about Walt's actions before Hank got shot that caused the first major break in their relationship. Now that Walt's actions have gotten Hank killed, I would have to imagine that would be the final nail in the coffin for the sisters' relationship, unless of course Marie buys the the full-on victim angle.

So, the M90 is...for Marie?
