Captain Marvel Brie Larson is Captain Marvel!

Watched Short Term 12. Damn... I absolutely love the intensity she brings in her acting.

Marvel is putting together a stable of outstanding actors. RDJ, Boseman, Cumberbatch, Ruffalo, Jackson, and now Larson. You just don't see that depth of talent in a franchise....and yes, I know I left some actors out. Those were just the ones that popped into my head at the time.

Nothing to argue about. They're doing it right. Also, I heard a number of characters will leave MCU after Infinite War 1 or 2 (RDJ? Evans? Ruffalo? ScarJo?). So they have bring new blood into the franchise.

I know very little about Captain Marvel, but I'm excited for a female-led super-hero movie. And with an actress like this? The only downside - it's 2,5 years away.

Love that Avy and Title. Evil Russian... :funny::funny::funny:

Yeah. Having a female led SH movie is gonna be cool and WAY overdue.

Glad you enjoyed it! And a great thing about her intensity, imo, is how effortlessly she can turn it on and off. Like I don't even know how she can go from doing movies like that to Trainwreck, where her role is basically to laugh off Amy Schumer the majority of the time - until dealing with her issues with their Dad, then bam - back comes the intensity. It was the same way on United States of Tara (amazing show all-around, btw, and available on Netflix :cwink:). Most of the time her character on that was the happy-go-lucky, carefree party girl, but then when the drama hit, she always brought it.

It's also fun watching Scott Pilgrim now after having seen Room and Short Term 12 because you really see her range. It's like watching a completely different person.

Agreed 100%.

One thing about Brie that I think a lot of people who only know her from her two leading roles in ROOM and Short Term 12 aren't familiar with yet is just how blisteringly funny she can be. I mean, she's not just funny, the girl is downright hilarious. That's something that's going to be a huge asset for the MCU. She'll get to bring the drama and intensity to the role, but she'll also get to show off her comedic chops. The witty banter is actually something I'm really looking forward to.

Little edit I made using Dave Keenan's fan art. I know it's nothing fancy. I just wanted to see his image with the new logo.

I recently saw her in Room (first film I've seen with her). I am now happy that she is Captain Marvel. Tremendous actress!

It's not the same without the cloth belt. I also want brighter colors.

Also... What about her helmet? Does she need one?

Hoping she gets to share scenes with Boseman and RDJ. She's a wonderful actress.

I remember someone (Feige??) talking about selecting the actor to play CM. He said that they kept in mind that she would have to share screen time with RDJ. I don't remember the exact quote, but I took it to mean that they needed someone who could go toe to toe with him. They got that person.

Oh gawd... that's because they're eventually planning to adapt Civil War II, aren't they.
Dammit Tony, you just got the crap beaten out of you by Steve, do you really want to pick a fight with the Earth's mightiest hero? :o

I'm sorry, the art sure is nice but everytime I see one of these I can't help but wonder why would anyone want to mess with perfection. It's called perfection for a reason.

I think Feige was just talking they set the bar high with RDJ and the first Iron Man movie, and were really happy, that they can welcome another top actor into their ranks. Though them sharing scenes is very possible, given Infinite War movies will have massive rosters.

By the way, regarding her helmet... I found only DeConnick saying she really wants them to keep the helmet in live action. I didn't see anything, that confirms CM will have that helmet in the movie.

They'll be sharing time in IW.

BTW just watched the pilot for United States of Tara and confess I was a little confused for the first 5 minutes or so. I thought the writers did a good job of making your standard, run-of-the-mill, white, suburban family interesting.

I don't think the helmet has been confirmed, and if it has then I completely missed the news. The movie is still three years away from now, at this point I feel not even Feige himself has a clear idea of what her costume will look like.

Time... that will be used to set up their eventual conflict in Civil War II in Phase 4. :o

No helmet please or very little of the helmet.

It certainly helps to know going in that it's a show about a wife/mother with multiple personalities, lol. I have to say the pilot remains my least-favorite episode of the show, though. It just doesn't match style/tone of the rest of it too well, imo.

And I'll echo those saying the helmet hasn't been confirmed, as far as I know.

My bad, guys. I got it mixed up. Deconnick said she wants it, so there's that.

Either way, I want her to have a retractable helmet. There are no helmeted or masked female heroes in the MCU and I want some variety. Plus the mask can look super badass if done right.

Like I said, your standard issue, white, middle class, suburban family. :o

Watched a few more episodes and loved the way they ended. It's funny and Brie is really, really good. Love the son too. It must be fun for Toni to play all those characters. Actors don't always get afforded those sorts of opportunities. I don't put it in the same class as Orphan Black and Tatiana and no one else should either because I don't like it when people threaten my bebes. :cwink:
