Captain Marvel Brie Larson is Captain Marvel!

*Sighs* This movie can't come out soon enough. I'm tired of all the drama.
Me too. Just seems much of the negativity is being stirred up because of misunderstandings, a few muckrakers trying to get views/subscribers/followers to their various social media accounts, and thin-skinned individuals who listen to said muckrakers.

In which she admits she'd been cast as Captain Marvel for a year before it was announced, and was therefore definitely lying in this interview, lol:

You can tell she's gotten better at keeping secrets since compared to her most recent interviews where she looks confident and poised, this clip shows her getting a little uncomfortable with her voice changing pitch and tone

Yeah, the date on that video is off...it's actually from late 2015 and was re-posted by MTV once Variety reported she was in talks (hence the misleading title). But I remember when I first watched it that she seemed a little squirrelly about it, lol.

Brie larson in this promotion debacle like ghostbusters 2016 could learn a thing or two from wonder woman and into the spiderverse. Both those movies were just marketed like normal about a superhero learning there way in the world and didnt make a big deal of there gender or race.

Less politics and more of heres a character and lets follow them on a 2 hour journey and go home afterwards.

It's like you deliberately missed the point. You didn't address Thor, and Thanos for some reason, a god and a titan. SS and Galactus were shown in FF:Rise of the Silver Surfer, a Fox Production, sure. Nonetheless the evidence is there for non-comicbook Marvel fans if they were legitimately interested in a sincere discussion on the topic, unlike you. There was also Chaos, Infinity, The Beyonder and Abraxus who were other celestial beings just to name a few off the top of my head. Can't have someone with an opposing viewpoint to your own though, can we. This is Superherohype forums right? Not MCU-movies-made-post-2018 forum for comic neophytes exclusively.

In the MCU, Thor actually isn't really a god. In the early days of setting it all up, they decided to avoid the concept of saying that a group of gods were the "correct" ones.

Thanos...well...I think the last thing we need to call him is under-powered at the moment.

Besides, this isn't the comics. They clearly have reason to make her powerful, so they did.

Opposing viewpoints are fine. But you appear to be upset about a nonexistent issue. Get back to me when The Beyonder DOES show up and is single handedly defeated by Captain Marvel, not now when the character doesn't even exist yet.

Wonder Woman was heavily promoted as pro-women, pro-feminism, "girl power" etc.

Not in the same vein and in your face as this. Wonder woman was more fan based and the feminism crowd as well. The stufio and cast didnt partake in the politics

How is it "in your face" exactly? The "her, a hero" thing? Brie Larson's comments(which has nothing to do with the studio promoting the film)? Am I missing something?

Personally I think the Wonder Woman promotion was more "in your face" than Captain Marvel's promotion if anything. But even if it is "more" than WW, why does it matter? There isn't many superhero movies with a female lead, of course it's going to be a big deal.

^Yeah that "Her/Hero" thing in the trailer sure "was in your face"

WTF are you even talking about

Even Larson's supposedly "objectionable" comments came well before the press tour, and Marvel has done literally nothing to promote this as a feminist film

And Wonder Woman actually had comments about how much better women are than men, whereas from what I hear there's absolutely nothing like that in this movie

For what it's worth, the ScreenJunkies review seems to indicate the feminism/girl power stuff is indeed handled with a less deft/subtle/mature touch here than in Wonder Woman, which is a little concerning. Thought Wonder Woman nailed it, it's all there but it doesn't feel like you're being beaten over the head.

Hm. That being said, the "this is all a feminist agenda!" crowd are ****ing morons too, so yeah.

Doesn't sound like Brie's the problem with the movie overall though, no serious reviewers (the non-trolls) are pushing that line. But that goes without saying. The writing though, starting to get a little concerned over that here, from the reviews.

Idk, I saw a review that was the exact opposite

He also didn't LOVE it, he said it was good but not great, put it around Dr Strange or Ant-Man

But he also said it was safer and less on-the-nose than Wonder Woman, and that they really dont touch on it at all

and I watched WW again the other night, and I'd hardly say it was deft or subtle in its handling of the topic
("It's No Man's Land, no MAN can cross it!".. Dun dun dunnn, cue the music....:whatever:)

Her comments were just a couple weeks ago, not a year or two.
I would be hard press to find interviews where patty jenkins or Gal made political statements or calls for diversity in the press circuits.

Also just because shes the second female superhero lead is not a big of a deal, weaver did it decades ago as ripley who just didnt dawn a cape. If you think there isnt a clear feminism push behind but not as high as ghostbusters was your crazy.

So in the film is it being talked about that Danvers and other characters openly opine the standard "Men can't keep us down" kinda thing?

The classic kick a guy in the nuts trope form of filmmaking lol I've heard from several reviews that Brie Larson is bland as CM and is trying too hard to be tough and charismatic and coming across as aloof and inscrutable. Where did I hear that from oh it's been all these "pansie" men's complaints since the first trailer dropped.

I don't know I've seen a few other reviewers mention it is more subtle. Could just be a perception thing. But you'll all live.

I found WW underwhelming. If there was a message, it’s about a scantily clad woman who has lived among with other scantily clad women all her life seizing the moment when a hot guy fell from the sky, “accidentally” walked into him when he was naked bathing, then decided to run off with him to “save the world” then vanished after he died. Hold on, I think I have seen that kind of plot before maybe that’s why it felt underwhelming to me without the ..... hmmm.... :oldrazz:
