I'm Not Messing Around, I'm Doing Important Stuff in The Superhero Cinematic Civil War Thread - Part 61

I like Whedon’s Astonishing quite a bit. Warts and all.

I’m a big design minimalist in general so I like the X-Men having a uniform. Obviously the black leather Singer suits are too dull, but throw some yellow on there and you’ve got something happening.

Totally off the topic of superheroes, but anyone else stoked for 28 Years Later next week? Sadly due to movie times and my schedule for next week, it looks like I won't be able to see it Thursday. Might have to see it Friday evening. But that's been one of my most anticipated movies this year!

Yall can have Jurassic World: Who Cares By Now, I will take 28 Years Later :o
Very much so! Watched the original for the first time a few weeks ago in anticipation. I'll be on a vacation next weekend, so hoping to catch it the following Tuesday.

I’m sorry but yall just triggered me talking about Quitely.

Amazes me how in one decade we had this:

And then the next decade later have it regress to this:

And they wonder why people don’t buy comics anymore outside of the niche. :sneeze:
I swear every X-Men that's not the core team get skimpier and skimpier outfits. :o

Haven't read Whedon's run in years. Probably wouldn't enjoy it now but I did at the time.

I think WB needs to get out of this mindset of ok we got the Superman film out of the way now let's get to the real show, Batman. Build up your other characters so that you are not continuously reliant on one character to save you. They just need to look back at recent history and see the most popular characters on the DCEU were not Batman or even Superman, but Aquaman and Wonder Woman. This may all just be irrelevant though since WB split into two companies and might be sold next year so who knows what the potential new bosses will want.

Disney has heard the online fan uproar over the years, and they’ve finally decided to give the masses their 🐈‍⬛ Black Cat movie.

Sounds cute. I liked Luca.
Only because the cat movie won the Oscar. :o

I'm in favor of the DCU sub-series being distinct from each other if only because Superman doesn't look good to me and I don't want the others to be like that. There's still hope for Wonder Woman and Teen Titans. Batman I'm not so sure about given the Damian Wayne angle, but at least there's still the Reeves series.

It’s not making that. That same guy predicted $115m-$145mil OW for The Flash at this exact same distance from release.
This is FC trying to set expectations so if it doesn't hit big numbers, she can still sell it as a rousing success. :hehe:

Right now, I think it does at least 150m. Would be sure of higher if not for JW being a week before. Though that one might die domestically opening up the runway.

No I’m just trying to keep people realistic so it’s not painted as a failure when it plainly isn’t. Given the state of the DC brand, frankly any opening over $100mil should be considered a win, and something close to The Batman’s opening would be a HUGE win. The presales are NOT selling this “gigantic opening” narrative at all, the Prime Screening has really distorted things, and setting people’s expectations that high is stupid. I already put my predictions in the box office thread: I think it gets $115mil-125mil, which would be great. But people trying to paint that as a disappointment is gonna annoy the hell outta me.

Potato, tomato. :o

I think it's too early to tell how well it's going to do opening weekend, but I think it opens the biggest of the 3 and probably easily. That said, what matters more is dem legs.

Imagine it opens higher then MOS. The hiliarity that would ensue. Suddenly a lot of people learning what inflation is for the first time. :funny:

It’s the “Cavill could’ve done the same thing!” crowd that’s going to make me strangle someone.

Honestly I think the best narrative it could have is opening right around what MoS got and then having a GotG3–level multiplier or higher that puts it at a much higher end total. Show those goons what MoS would have done if people actually liked it.
