Captain Marvel Brie Larson is Captain Marvel!

Mike is eating his own tail

That wasn't me. That was my evil twin brother, Leopold. He's always trying to sabotage me. :csad:

Seriously though, I've got this new phone that seems to have a mind of its own when I try to post things. :cmad:

Just to clarify, Captain Marvel needs to have blonde hair. Just saying.

Did I quote the right person?

Don't trust Mike w/ the goatee

Or Dirty Mike and The Boys. :o

Maybe Carol disappears or goes into space in IW, they do a post credits scene with her alive but in a spaceship and then comes the CM movie....

I wouldn't mind seeing a cameo in an earlier movie as long as it isn't forced.

Hey, is Mike in love with Brie or what????:ilv:

OMG. I've never seen anyone embrace a role for a comic book movie quite !one Brie. Can somebody be this perfect? :mnm:

Its not that uncommon. Olivia Munn and Alex Shipp did the same after being cast as Psylocke and Storm

Are those jammies or just a cosplay outfit? I think what she's wearing already could work with some modifications.

Aw, she's reading my favorite volume!

I think it's this jacket:

Cool. I wonder if she's just reading that specific volume out of curiosity or if there's a reason for it, because I'd love if her Captain Marvel was heavily inspired by the one from that book.

I'm assuming Marvel did like they do with all their new actor hires and gave her specific comics to "research." So I'd imagine this one was indeed chosen for a reason. Honestly, it makes sense that Kelly Sue's run would be what they would draw heavily from, considering that's where they clearly started grooming the character to be a leading movie heroine and where she reached a new level of popularity.

Which means, among other things, there's a good chance we'll see Carol's Star Wars nerd-dom in full effect. Afterall, that's not just an endearing character quirk now, it's corporate synergy! :D

I honestly know next to nothing about Captain Marvel save from what I've read in the New Avengers. Looks like I know what comic I'm picking up next.
I'm not sure if I've expressed this yet, but I love this casting. I've really liked Brie since I first saw her in 21 Jump Street, she really stood out to me then and my opinion was solidified once I saw her in The Room.

Glad to hear it, Flint. It just so happens that that is the same volume I always recommend to people as a great jumping-on point for the character, so needless to say I think that's a great choice!

Which reminds me, FYI, for anyone looking to catch up on any Marvel TPB's right now, Barnes & Noble's having a "buy two, get one free" sale going on that ends tomorrow (and that Captain Marvel volume is included): http://www.barnesandnoble.com/b/marvel-graphic-novels-buy-2-get-the-3rd-free/_/N-2jpp

Happy to hear it's a great jumping-on point, I'm definitely buying it now. I'll see if I can find two other books to get to take advantage of that deal

I literally get a little choked up just thinking about how awesome and inspiring Brie's version of Carol is going to be. She's brought me to tears in both of her previous films where she played the lead... she may yet do that again with this film... Only for different reasons this time.

What did they do?

post images of them of comics featuring their characters they were reading. Munn posted images of her fighting training and in a swimsuit reminiscent of Psylocke's costume

I'm not sure what you're talking about. :o

Oh.....I must be imagining things.....again. :o

In reality, other than (obviously) Mike and (maybe) Flick, I'm probably as jacked as anyone about this movie.

They will have a long time to perfect everything and have a really great crew so far. I hope they knock this out of the park GotG style.

No "maybe" about it, this is without question my most anticipated CBM on anyone's upcoming slate. :woot:

I'm obviously late commenting, but I wholeheartedly approve of this casting. I hope we get some director news soon.

While I do agree with Flickchick that the 2014-15 series is better, I think the 2012-13 one is also worth checking out (the art for one is great!... sometimes. Sometimes it's really not XD). If I were you I'd definitely try reading both, but if you are forced to choose then yeah, go with the 2014 one. They're both written by the same author by the way.

That's exactly what I hope is happening.
And yep, the idea that Marvel Studios would hire an actress who likes Star Wars to play a character who likes Star Wars and then not even take advantage of the lucky coincidence is a pretty sad one. :hehe:

Doesn't sound like we'll be getting that director news for a while...About a month at the earliest.

Saw the picture earlier, but just now getting around to commenting...Awesome. Brie is going to do a great job and is really taken to the role fast. After she was announced when she posted the picture, the tweets, and now this picture.
