Does no one else want to see this? It's been said by Raimi himself that Octavius didn't die at the end of Spider-man 2. He merely "disappeared".

I personlly don't think that after using the big three: Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus and Venom, that any other villain has what it takes to carry the film on their own backs.

So for me the ideal situation would be to bring back Molina as Ock and then introduce another (second-tier) bad guy. And who's the other villain we've been building up to see... The Lizard.

Doc Ock and The Lizard for Spider-man 4!

i wouldn't mind having doc ock return for spidey4 along withthe lizard but i think it would be better for ock to be a cliffhanger for the end of spidey4 and have him be the main villian in spidey5 but either way would be great.

It was already stated by Raimi and Alfred Molina that Molina has an option to be in SM3 or SM4 in his contract. Raimi has indeed said that Doc Ock isn't dead, so we shall see him in SM4.

But didn't Doc Ock regain his sanity and turn good at the end?

I know, so what's the point? Is he gonna be in the film help Spidey turn Lizard into their good ol' pal Dr. Curt Conners.

I think there's a strong chance we'll see the good doctor show up again in either SM4 or 5... his vague "death" leaves possibilities open, as even Raimi himself has said, and he's also an immensely popular character in both the comics and the movies.

The next few Spider-Man flicks are probably gonna need some strong hooks to lure audiences in; bringing back a hugely popular villain like Doc Ock, probably along with a new villain or two, could be just the hook they need.

Personally, if they do bring back Ock, I can't ****ing wait. ;) Best supervillain ever.

What? He never said that...

The lights on his tentacles clearly go out when he's sinking at the end of SM2. That means the nerves shut down and his brain went dead. Therefore...death!

I'd love to see Alfred come back again, but I seriously doubt it

Forget Doc Ock,even if he wasn't dead which moviegoers think he is,he turned back into good.We need new villains to show up.If Raimi only uses two villains in each movie from here on out instead of three, then part 4 would be Lizard/Kraven,and part 5 would be Hobgoblin/Scorpion.

^Thoses are classic villains that deserve to be in the movies.

It'd also be tough to avoid a nuclear reaction swimming down above your head. He's toast.

No to the Hobgoblin. We've had enough Goblins in the movies.

^He is a classic villain that hasn't been in the movies yet,not a rehash of a villain that was already in a movie like Doc Ock.

As long as they get the costume right. We've seen the abortion that lies ahead in 3.

Wouldn't be bad at all, as long he isn't influenced by tentacles.

I would love to see Molina return as Doc Ock. He was bloody awesome. He owned SM-2.

Empire magazine, in an interview with Alfred Molina.

Agreed, that was a good article. It would be great to see Alfred come back for another film.

Couldn't agree more, we don't need Hobgoblin. We've already had Norman and Harry, how many more pumpkin chucking, gliding maniacs do we need? Bring on Lizard, Electro or Scorpion.

:hyper:

Hobgoblin is not a classic villain. He didn't show up until the 80's. It's a guy in a Goblin costume on a glider with pumpkin bombs.

We've seen that TWICE now. It's a rehash. Enough is enough. With Ock, he is a classic villain, and there are other classic storylines that can be done with him, like Master Planner or Sinister Six.

Exactly

Raimi did say that he's not dead, it's a freakin' comic book movie, you all need to stop acting like this type of thing doesn't happen.

Plus, I've stated before, they can easily bring back Doc Ock, by having police divers rescue him minutes after he's underwater. Rescueing him at the very same time Peter/MJ are on the big spider web talking, not paying attention. Perform CPR on him, saving his life. It's as simple as that. He could even have a bit of brain damage (because of lack of oxygen), which makes him completely insane and also forget that Peter is Spider-Man.

It's all in the writing.

A similar thing happened in Terminator 2, then a few minutes later the eye lights again and we're seeing that the CPU is re-routing to an alternate power source.

No doubt Ock's tentacle system has similar safeguards so as to protect Ock when he's working with nuclear power of all things.

In the movie, the tentacles had a mind of their own, so they could easily have taken over and brought him out of the river. That would probably be the movie explanation I would expect.

In any case, as much as I loved Ock in SM2 (and Ock is a great character), I'd rather see other villains get their chance. Ock had his time in the spotlight, let someone else have it.

As far as Hobgoblin goes, no. The Goblin legacy is through. Norman and Harry are enough. I love the Hobgoblin in the comics, but I would rather see a different villain than someone who is mostly the same as villains we have seen twice.

I would love to see Ock in another Spidey movie. With the Spidey movies getting bigger budget we could see more breathtaking fights with him. Also, even though he turned good at the end, the lack of Oxygen to his brain could cause brain damage and make him evil (like brain damage to him in the comics)

I think The Lizard and the return of Doc Ock would be a fantastic combo. In Spidey 2 Conners already mentioned that he and Octavius were friends. So there's story possibilites already planted right there.

I also genuinely believe that no other villian has what it takes to be in the fourth film. Kraven could be embarrassing. Same for Mysterio, too campy. Electro, a guy with electric powers and not much character depth, would be very limiting. Note this is probably what they thought about Sandman and the reason why they've connected him to Uncle Ben's death. Same thing with The Vulture, no emotional hook. Another Goblin character would just be ridiculous. As for The Scorpion, I like him but we would have already seen an anti-spider-man in the form of Venom. So he serves no new purpose here.

So when you really think about it. Doc Ock and The Lizard really are the best way to go.

There is nothing limited or embarrasing about ELECTRO or KRAVEN, except for one's imagination. If you write it right, it could be nothing short of damn-good.

Mysterio I agree with you.

Come on. A guy in jungle get-up running around the city trying to bag Spidey as his prey. I just don't see any way this could be done and not be lame.

As for Electro. Aside from what they've done with Sandman, for better or worse, giving him some sort of emotional resonance with Peter. How else could you flesh this guy out beyond the confines of being a one-dimensional character?
