Fantasy Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel the Vampire - Part 3

How was Angel finished! :argh:

If the show was tarnished than why is it getting a revival?

Because execs are lazy and desperate. I mean, if you can watch the original series again, and not have it be colored by Whedon's bull****, good for you.

Sure Illyria keeping Spike as her gimp was fun.

Ends on a mission statement that perfectly summarizes the theme of the show, actually. One of the best finales in the history of television.
"Personally, I'd like to slay the dragon" still sends chills up my spine. So cool. I dunno if Angel was the best Whedon show but it was always my favourite.

It helps that Whedon wasn't as involved with Angel.

Still involved enough to **** over Charisma Carpenter, though.
Yeah, tbh Whedon being an awful person doesn't change my very high opinion of his writing at all but Angel really benefits from the other writers. Super strong team.

So you never watched the show because.....it was fairly woke, just managed to not be in your face because it knew how to be subtle
Seen it twice from start to end. Thank you. And i don't call it WOKE in my book. Sorry. But hey... Different strokes for different folks.

I rewatch the shows every year. There are definitely moments where Whedon’s grossness jumps out now, but the storytelling still holds up for the most part extremely well. They had great writers working on both shows throughout their entire runs.

Xander has to put Buffy in her place while also doing nothing of value. :o

In an ideal world I would have Xander back, displaying more growth from beyond his time in Sunnydale. I don't see him as a villain, despite some ugly moments. Shame his actor has done so much actual villainy. I'm guessing there will be no mention whatsoever.

Xander returned to his home planet. :o

I hate how Whedon’s episodes are most of my favorites from Buffy (like “Doppelgängland” and “The Body”).

I hope the new show runners bring on some of the OG writers like Jane Espenson, Rebecca Rand Kirschner, David Fury, Marti Noxon and Doug Petrie. Or at least ask them if they want to be involved.

Its an uncomfortable thing to process for sure - it's hard to sit with the idea that someone can be capable of horrible behaviour/attitudes in some areas AND still be capable of profound/deep emotive thoughtful writing in others.

I think its been even harder for me personally because I didnt just love the show... I used to love Whedon himself. I felt Whedon's entire outlook on life/humanity resonated with me. I watched and rewatched interviews and speeches of his where he got into humanism and existential ideas.

So yeah... its been hard to make sense of that.

I guess that's just the messy nature of human beings though!

P.s. Also LOVE The Body.

Don't forget the musical episode.

Talented people can be jerks or horrible people. James Cameron, Aaron Sorkin, Oliver Wilde, Kanye West, Marlon Brando, Mariah Carey.

I have an idea in my head where Cordelia is reincarnated by the Powers and helps Buffy and this new Slayer.

They gotta do right by Charisma in this reboot.

Charisma hasn’t said much about the Buffy news on social media. Maybe she’s in negotiations to guest star.

Can we have more episodes like Living Conditions, please? We need way more levity to balance out the drama and end of the world dread.

Not a big fan of Buffy S4, but that episode was pretty damn funny.

My favorite comedy episodes in the series is “Homecoming” and “Bewitched Bothered & Bewildered.” The Cordy Buffy rivalry in the former is still just as funny as when I saw it on DVD.

It falls apart for me when Riley and Demon Hunter Squad are introduced.
