What are you thinking of The First until now?
Many fans considered him a very corny big bad but i liked him

Haven't really learnt much about him yet, but I like the idea of him using the appearances of the dead and the way he's hinted at does give the sense of something pretty large-scale. It reminds me a little of how Glory was set up in Season 5. I'm looking forward to seeing more of him.

I'm guessing the demon in "Apocalypse, Nowish" is the big bad of Season 4 of Angel?

I loved the idea of The First but hated how he never got a corporeal form. I thought that was lamethat Buffy never had to fight it. I was expecting to see them go at it in the finale but that never happened.

Season 4 of Angel has to be my favorite season, I think it had one of the better season long story arcs, save for the last two or three episodes.
Sesaon 4 was great up until
Cordelia gave birth. The whole Jasmine stuff was a bit too WTF for me at the time and I thought that was a horrible sendoff for her. Yeah they brought her back for one episode but I still didnt like how it went down.
It was a great season but I still hated how it ended. If I were to rank from favorite to least favorite, it would be

Season 3
Season 2
Season 4
Season 5
Season 1

I liked the first personally and having so and so be the corporeal form was good enough for me even if he wasn't really that.

Havok, I would put all that stuff in spoiler boxes right nowas old first time watcher Iron-Man could read it.

and...

I read somewhere that whatsherface who played Cordelia had a falling out with the show's producers over something. That's why she was bumped from s5, only being allowed that one episode.
I agree that it was a crap send off for her in s4, but at least we got that last ep in s5, which was a great one.
I also rank the seasons best to worst in your same order.

I did like the Jasmine arc though, esp the one with Fred all alone in that 'Invasion of the bodysnatchers' scenario. The final battle between her and Angel was pretty good too.
I haven't seen s5 in years, the only one i don't currently own on dvd(I taped over my bought vhs' of them a while back, thinking i'd get the dvds), it has some truly fantastic episodes, but suffers from the fact that the budget was cut, and the studio insisted they do more stand alone eps, as opposed to the season long arcs, which was a mistake, as that became Angel's strength as a show from s2.

Wow, I just watched "The Body". I think it's one of the most morbid TV episodes I've ever seen, but it's horrifyingly realistic as well. The complete lack of music, the jerky camera movements, everyone's reactions (especially Anya's breakdown)...it was brilliant but awful at the same time.

Been at sea for a month but I'm back now, glad to see Iron Man is still watching!Ok, Riley's departure, well done but they just left it too long, he needed to go sooner as was hinted in 'Restless', no offence to him, he just wasn't the guy for BuffyJoyce's death, oh my god! I totally agree with everything other people have said, it's distressing yet marvellous all at the same time. How it didn't win an award I'll never know

Yeah, I guess. Ben was basically the equivalent of Dawn.

And good, I'm looking forward to it. I love the crossovers, although I am glad that they kept them fairly few and far between.

I almost don't want to spoil it for myself but...does Faith ever return? Or is she just left in prison?

Our Faithy will be back, you can't keep a good/bad girl down!I disagree on the whole Ben and Dawn thing though. Dawn is willing to kill herself to save the world whilst Ben is willing to kill everyone to save himself. It's not Ben's fault really, he never asked for this and at the end his Glory half seems to be influencing him just as he influences Glory but Giles is right to kill him and if he hadn't I think Xander would have. Buffy does kill the Knights of Byzantium but that is essentially a 'them or us' situation as is Giles killing Ben in the long term Don't worry, how the gang manage whilst temporarily deprived of Buffy is very interesting indeed. And it doesn't hurt to rewatch Restless at the end of each season afterwards, you pick up a lot of stuff

I remember reading that she herself was supposed to be the big bad of season 4 but then she got pregnant so they had to change things around. Maybe it had something to do with that or just the huge backlash that there was that Angel and her into each other.

If I may add, the backlash really began with the Connor-Cordelia relationship, I think that's when everyone went into corrective mode.

Also, I really liked season 4, mostly because of all the Buffy connections, and because back then I was really hoping The First was also season 4's big bad, I really loved the confrontration between The First/Darla and Cordelia/Jasmine

Welcome back Lorenzo!

I've had a lot going on this week so I haven't been able to watch on until today, with "Bring On The Night". Fantastic episode. The Potential Slayers and the Turok-Han are both great ideas and Buffy's speech at the end was brilliant. I really hope Giles isn't dead, though - it was never shown whether he survived the attack back in "Sleeper", he suddenly has all this information about the First, and I don't think he was actually shown to be corporeal. I hope he's still alive!

Yeah, 'Bring on the Night' is excellent and the Turok-Han is one scary beastie, you never saw a scarier vamp. I really like the Potentials but a lot of people don't. I'll let you make your own mind up as we go

Whilst Iron Man is taking a short break I'll try to catch up with what I've missed.I liked the Pylea arc, it certainly took things in a new direction but I was glad to be back in LA. And how much can Alysson Hannigan say with just an expression? And yes, Angel attempting to throttle Wes was a shocker, Wes coming home to his empty apartment was heartbreaking. As has been commented before his character development during his 6 years on Buffy and Angel is amazing. His relationship with Lilah is one of my favourite aspects of both shows. Byebye Tara, people wept openly when we first saw this ep at a convention just as they'd done at the last ep of Xena at a convention the week before (and indeed were some of the same folks). Joss kills his characters with alarming regularity although their deaths are never cheap or meaningless (except for poor old Jesse). Someone pointed out to me that at the end of season 3 of Angel the demon (Cordy) ascends to Heaven and the Angel sinks to hell? 'Once More With Feeling' is not so much a TV ep as a cultural icon. But I rate Tabula Rusa which followed it almost as highly. The Cordy/Connor thing is weird although I don't see it as strictly incestuous if they're not blood relatives. Season 4 of Angel is my all time favourite largely because of a certain three ep arc in it's middle. Iron Man you never told us what you thought of the ending of Buffy season 6? Makes me weep with joy every time. Also what did you think of Spuffy, 'Doublemeat Palace' and 'Him'? And more darkly of the infamous Buffy/Spike bathroom scene and Spike's subsequent quest to Africa?Personally I rate the seasons in order of awesomeness;3/2 tied in their brilliance5 hello Dawn and true adulthood7 the final battle1 early days4 finding it's feet6 could do with more fun

Ahhh back when payphones had commercials.

maybe she was gonna stab him in the eye. that would at least blind him for a bit until she could find some wood...maybe.

Ended up taking an unintentional break from these shows...gonna get back into them over the next few days, I think.

I liked season 7 of Buffy the best. Not sure which I liked best of Angel though.

But I think that if Joss had written Dawn's character as a male instead of ANOTHER female then that character would'nt have been so damned annoying even if the scenes had'nt been changed at all. And it would've made for so many more funny scenes and the character could've been useful a lot earlier in the show; fragile teenage girl: useless in both research and in the field. Angsty teenage boy: just as crappy fighter as Xander was in the first few seasons (why the hell didn't he take some martial arts classes anyway?), but at least he'd try and probably wouldn't be taken hostage as often as Dawn was.

I'd also love to see season eight, nine and ten be filmed. Today TV-shows usually get bigger budgets and can pull off cooler stuff and after reading season eight I don't think that it would be impossible to do as it would've been only five years ago.

I love this TV show, I have to say even after 8 years since the shows been on I still see it as one of the best shows ever made. Angel too.

I'm going to a Vampire Convention at the end of this month, and 5 people from the cast of Buffy are attending, (Eliza Dushku Faith, Nicholas Brendon - Xander, Julie Benz - Darla, Mark Metcalf - Master, and Clare Kramer -Glory, plus Georges Jeanty who does the comic books) I can't wait to meet them! Especially Eliza and Nic!!!

If you get the chance, order them to force Joss Whedon to gather the cast and crew once more to film season eight. With todays tech they could pull it off with just about the same budget as they had back then and the fans would jump in joy and spontaneously orgasm. And they'd be able to do the material justice again because even though the comics are good they'll never be as good as the show was.

Oh you lucky thing, I've met Julie, Clare and Nic and they're great. Be sure to ask him to do the Snoopy dance and ask Julie if she still ice skates. I haven't met Eliza and I'd love to, ask her how she enjoyed her dominatrix scene in Dollhouse and if she found the crew treated her any differently?:woot:

Personally whilst I love the shows they had such good endings I think I'm content to let things lie. 4-8 TV movies wouldn't go astray though:yay:

Come on Iron Man, we're all dying to hear what you thought of season 6-7!

Don't worry I definately will! Agreed on everything you said!

Haha I already had that wrote down, although it was if she would want to do something like that again. I've also got if she enjoyed the sex scene with Nicholas Brendon! might be a bit shy to ask that tho :ninja:

Julie ice skates? brilliant we have something in common! :cwink:

ps. Also if anyones a fan of True Blood, Allan Hyde who plays Godric and the girl who play Lorena, will be there too :-D

and if anyone else wants me to ask them anything, i'd be happy too (If there's enough time of course )

Allan Hyde speaks terrible swedish, LOL! He sounds like a polish hooker when he tries to talk swedish, as does everyone else except for Alexander Skarsgård, obviously. Even I, a native swede, have a hard time understanding them whenever they speak swedish on the show because it is so terribly bad.

But I love that show anyway :)
If you get the chance, do ask why they DIDN'T make Jason into a werepanther in the show. He turned into one in the books.
