Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel the Vampire

Seriously, they emotionally abuse each other so much, yet Buffy was usually the only one who got to be legitimately pissed about it on-screen until that point. Yeah, Angel apologized later, but it was still an awesome scene.

I loved when he beat the **** out of Riley.

That was awesome. I like that they didn't leave it ambiguous or anything; Angel beat the everloving s*** out of Riley. And I'm one of the few who never even hated Riley. :awesome:

Yeah it was a cool fight. Riley's character is pretty well described in that is well. He was battered and still only moments behind. And when he sulked and refused to leave the room... haha. I actually really like Riley.

I didn't like him in season 4. But liked him in season 5 for the 10 episodes he was in.

His return in season 6 was good too.

His return was cool. I totally wanted a show about Riley and the missus after that. Kicking demon ass, secret agent-style. :awesome:

Marc Blucas is NOWHERE near strong enough of an actor to carry his own show. The concept of Riley wasn't bad. Marc was just a terrible actor who made him a very flat character.

Yeah, Blucas was kind of meh. I saw him in some baseball movie and he was equally meh. Then I saw him on Lie to Me and he was all right. I guess Tim Roth's awesome must've rubbed off on him a bit.

Also, Beast looks like an extra from Cats in your avatar. Stupid First Class. :argh:

One character I hated more than anything on the show was Kennedy.

I never noticed how annoying she was the first time I watched season 7. Then I re watched it and christ she is irritating.

Any time she was on screen I wanted someone to take her out.

I thought she was fine in the show and people were just b****ing because she wasn't Tara, but she's been annoying me in the comics.

I'm not that big a fan of Tara to be honest. I just don't think she brought anything to the table other than "omg Willow is a lesbian now". she was a weak witch in comparison to willow, and even when willow stopped using magic, she didn't step up and fill that role. she was just kinda there.

I actually thought the complete opposite, actually. She annoyed me on the show, but I dont mind her so much in the comics.

Yeah same here. Hell I even felt bad for her in the final issue of season 8.

I Will Remember You and Hero back to back is one big :waa:

But IWRY is where season one takes off and starts becoming really good.

im watching all the Angel episodes again and just started Season 1. I watched those two yesterday and man, they're great. I actually liked Doyle and it was a little melancholic for me to watch because I haven't seen them since their initial airing and he has died in real life in the mean time :(

As for Buffy, the first episode I ever saw was their high school graduation and I've never seen any episodes prior. After I finish with Angel I think I'll get around to watching the whole show of Buffy

I wasnt. Just the brief romantics that they had made me mad. Angel/Cordy worked best as friends and not as lovers. That ship sailed after Season1 of Angel imo. Hooking them up just felt wrong just like hooking up Buffy/Xander would feel wrong after S4 of Buffy.

I wouldnt have minded if they kept Gwen around and explored her relationship with Angel.

i remember Gwen being one of my favorite guest characters the first time around. Since I'm watching the show again and haven't seen it in years I hope that i'll still like her as much

I hope Kate sticks around for Dark Horse's Angel series. I always thought she should come back better able to deal with the supernatural stuff and join the team. That's the one really great thing that After the Fall did for me: reintroduce Kate as a SWAT-armored badass using police tactics to take down vamps and demons. Also, given how well she got to know Angel, she ably fills the second-in-command/confidante role that Cordy and Wesley filled at various points.

i always wanted Kate to come back

She wouldve filled the snarky tough role Cordelia left nicely. Plus she had a superpower.

Except she turned out to be a dirty traitor in After the Fall. :argh:

Also, I think she was f***ing Connor. I can't remember for sure, though.

If there's anything worse than being a traitor, it's that.

Connor was actually one of the other surprisingly good parts of After the Fall. He manned up and had his own little gang that helped Angel by protecting part of LA when it was in hell.

i got all the seasons of Angel the other day and am all the way to season 5. I finished 4 again and it could have been such a good season if Conner wasnt made so gaullible early on. He annoyeed me till he gave his speech on how everything in the world is ugly to him since he got back and then a felt sorry for him. Hoever rewatching season 5 now the pace is alot betterthe other seasons. Season 4 and even some past seasons get bogged down in some long drawn out conversations and season 5 has some one on one convos but they are better written and straight to the point. Season 4 spent to much pushing the Angel/Cordt thing, which I think doesnt work that well since it felt like incest imo.

After season 5 I always wanted to see where Conner could go since the one episode in that made him much more intresting then he ever was before.

He pretty much becomes mini-Angel. But mentally stable this time. He's basically living out the superhero fantasies of every teenage boy ever.

I liked him on the show only in his last two episodes after he regained his memories, but was more mellowed out and less *****ey than pre-mindwipe Connor.

That's basically his personality now, so he's an okay character to me. I like that he has his own schtick and he's not just on Angel's team again, though. That wouldn't work for a variety of reasons, chief among them being that Angel would always worry about him.
