BvS BvS Rottentomatoes score - how important will it be, and what do you hope for? - Part 8

IM3 sure was about the quality of the film for me. Shane Black is the one who should never touch a Superhero movie again

Well, if Snyder is driven out, I will be extremely disappointed and frankly judge his replacement by, to me , his very high standard.

I have to admit this is infuriating since I had to suffer through the Nolan trilogy which besides Begins I really really hate and now I finally get a Batman and Superman I like an its all hate and " he has to go"

Its gotten to the point I want the movie to do well with the general public not only because I want more like it but to show the naysayers who more often than not sound like vicious dogs in the depth of their rage and hatred.

What is it about Nolan's trilogy that didn't win you over?

29%...

Since Batman Begins I found only SEVEN comic book superhero movies with worse reviews:

Ghost Rider
Punisher: War Zone
Spirit
Green Lantern
Ghost Rider 2
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Fant4stic

Some people really like TMNT. I haven't watched it yet but i don't think GA feels that way about the movie. Critics and die hard fanboys probably hates it.

*cough*CATWOMAN deserves some love...*cough*

I've been tracking thru this thread since the RT floodgates opened. It's hard, because I did want to find time to watch it for WW, and my four-year-old is having a great time playing with all his Batman v. Superman merchandise. It's an absolute shame that I probably can't let him watch this movie for a good long while though, now that I know what happens. He's watched Star Wars, Avengers, GOTG, TWS...

At least LEGO Batman is coming soon.

What a shame. OW grosses seem good, but kind of a letdown especially after DEADPOOL's surprising run. I thought this would be in the $180-190M range.... :csad:

Wow really? If I didn't know better, I'd swear people think this is the worse movie in the world.

Now folks, honest question. I know some of you guys were disappointed, didn't like it, or maybe even straight up hated it. But I gotta ask, do you guys even think this film, for all it's problems, deserve all the hate it's getting? And please be as neutral as possible, even though I know that's not possible, but try. And I'm mainly asking the one's who were hopeful or at least neutral to begin with in regards to feelings towards this film, not the trolls who sit by idly at the computer refreshing RT every 5 minutes waiting for the score to go lower, because I know some of you guys are out there :nono:. I mean I don't even think GL or FFINO got this amount of crap.

No way ffino takes the cake everyone was jumping for joy and revelling in the disaster openly in that RT thread. ...good times lol.

It definitely does not deserve the hate but this movie was one of the most hyped comic book movies of all time. It was the first cinematic meeting of the two BIGGEST superheroes in the world. The disappointment and letdown is what is causing the vitriol. Its not an F4, Catwoman or Ghostrider situation where everyone knew from day one that they were going to be crap films.

It basically boiled down to - "That's the best you could do?"

I've never felt so let down by a film I was so excited for, but it definitely doesn't justify the level of hate it's getting.

If that is what it's about... Then that's kind of admitting this vast freak out is kind of an overreaction of epic proportions to my eyes.

C'est la vie.

I saw Batman Returns at 4 (with a 15 certificate)... didn't do me any harm. What is it about BvS you're worried about?

Heck I saw Robocop at that age and that's one of the most violent films of ever

BvS is terrible but it's at least better than TMNT in my book. I couldn't even get all the way through TMNT. It was unbearable.

Exactly. At best, BvS is average. There are SO many stories featuring Batman and Superman (even ones where they fight) that were better than this. And they could have used those for inspiration. But most of them... hell even The Dark Knight Returns... fleshed out Superman better.

As someone who slung endless amounts of mud towards FFINO both before and after its release, this movie is not as contemptible but a lot more disappointing given the scale. However I do think this is a bad movie that deserves to be lambasted so the film makers can maybe course correct and give us a more satisfying film next time. The characters and the fans deserve a lot better.

The reason all this negativy is ridiculous is because it takes into account so many factors that tell us way more about people's expectations and preconceptions than the quality of the movie itself.

Some of these factors that are so often brought up to justify why the movie is bad are generally not seen as important in many other movies. BvS was not seen through the same lenses as Thor or Iron Man. This is something i truly believe.

I don't think it's ridiculous at all. I found the film to be genuinely awful and deserving of the criticism it's received.

Isn't BR pretty comicbooky violence-wise to BvS? I thi nk he'd be fine with Burton's Bat movies, but I think what might not work for him is [BLACKOUT]Superman's "death" at the end? I know it doesn't take, but i guess what I'd like to know is how violent this movie actually is compared to Star Wars and Marvel movies? Oh, and also the Lois/Clark bathtub scene? I know it's not super explicit, but... Yeah, probably don't want him watching that, LOL!!![/BLACKOUT]

Little guy loves his talking mech-Batman though. Amd he loves most of the punchy-punchy in the trailers, but not sure if the level of violence will be too much for him. I might rent it, and then FF through some of the more objectionable bits.

Almost nothing including finding it generally less plausible than less "realistic" CBM. I was one of founding and few naysayers on the Batman boards. I won't derail the thread with though and since my initial rage has cooled have tried to not rain on anyone's parade. The only time I weaken is when it gets used as an example of something better than something I like.

I really am kind of baffled by the level of hate.

I mean, i'm not a blind fan loving the film just because it has my favorite hero in it. I thought MOS was an awful film, and still do now. But while there is still some residual disappointment and spill over from that, BvS is a MUCH stronger film. The writing is better, the overall story is much more interesting, the film flows better and is more coherent, and the universe it creates feels comic booky and hugely full of potential.

I just don't know why I keep finding myself in the minority in these situations. How can so few people have seen the same film I did? How can so few people have been excited, elated and hugely satisfied with it like I was?

I didn't say you think it's not ridiculous.

Saw it for a third time.

Almost considering making it a 6/10.

Pissed me off a lot less.

BR is pretty violent and sexually charged, but luckily my Mom had no clue about this stuff. She knew I loved Batman and thought ''hey they would be a great gift''.

[BLACKOUT]The scene in the bathtub is pretty harmless stuff, that I'm sure wouldn't fully register with him.

The fight itself is quite comic-booky but Superman's death is no more harrowing than Han Solo's and you can always explain thats he will be coming back.

The witch stuff with Martha is a little intense, but again Batman saves the day so its not too bad.[/BLACKOUT]

You know your son better than anyone, but it would be a shame if he missed out on it because of a few questionable scenes.

Not seeing something now doesn't mean you're missing out on seeing something.

Very true. But the buzz is around now. I still remember seeing my first Batman movie on the big screen and all that came with it. Batman Forever at age 5.

29%? Oh boy...

HA :woot:

The poll at SHH's front page is worse. Majority of the voters voted for 0%. So I guess it isn't just the critics.

You know that poll is more reliable than the RT audience score as that already had a hundred and eighteen thousand votes on it when it opened, before the movie was even released worldwide.

Fanboys voting without seeing it.
