Possibly because in Thor's case...that helmet for any length of time, out in the New Mexico sun? Hard to conceal a blond going bright red from overheating, once the makeup either melts or swelters off. And could have made it trickier for Jane to get close in for that big, claim-staking smooch.

MIGHTY THOR #14
(W) Matt Fraction (A) Pepe Larraz (CA) Walter Simonson

• How far will Donald Blake go to regain what he’s lost? • What really happens in your room at night after you fall asleep? • How can Thor fight a foe that’s not there?

Man I hope Walt does more than just that Avengers run for inside art.

Just read Thor #11 and I gotta say this is my favorite Fraction Thor arc yet, not counting the one shots he did a few years ago. Next issue should be epic. Between this and the always awesome JiM I'm an extremely happy Thor fan.

Yeah, I thought it was pretty good. I'm hoping for a great fight between Thor and Tanarus/Ulik in #12.

Definitely one of Fraction's better issues. Loki and the Surfer were fun, too. I'm excited to see Karnilla as an outright villain again. Now that Balder's dead, she really has nothing to keep her from reverting to her desire to conquer Asgard.

Wait, Balder's dead again? Damn I'm behind...

Uh, yeah. Like a year behind. He died in Gillen's run, before Fraction even took over.

Same here, Thor will not be happy when he returns and finds out what's been going on.

Didn't he die, with Tyr, during Fraction's first arc ( th world eaters)?
Was it then? I thought Gillen killed him and Tyr off at the end of his run. I could be remembering it wrong, though.

So where's the troll masquerading in his place erasing everyone's memories of him ala Ulik/Tanarus? :jedi
Doesn't have one. Balder died and pretty much no one really cared.

He's probably knocking back a few beers with Jean Grey and Janet Van Dyne in the afterlife now. How many times has Marvel killed him anyway?

No idea how many times, but at last sighting in JiM, he was patrolling Limbo with a party of other warriors, hunting down the lesser demons Surtur was feeding on, in the interests of keeping the big guy hungry and unable to grow bigger. Now that Surtur's back home in Muspelheim...eh, someone will probably do a mission to retrieve him, eventually.

Seriously, both of Odin's other sons will have recently returned from the dead soon (Loki as Kid Loki post-Siege, Thor after his death in Fear Itself). You'd think someone would take a look at that and be like, "Sooooo... when's Balder coming back?"

Well if you go by MARVEL's myths I think this was 3 times if you count during the Eye of Odin Ragnarok, the Rune Thor Ragnarok, and now.

...I took a step back once....stepped on a rake and craked the back of my head.

Dark Gods arc at the beginning of Jurgens' run, too. That's how he wound up bound to Jake Olson.

Was talking about Balder tho. Thor's been bumped off more times than Balder has only because Thor's more active in the Nine realms lol
