and I resent the characterization in this article that everyone who dislikes the change is sexist and a friggin' idiot
I never said this comic would fail, or destroy the industry, just that I like having Thor in my Thor comics

I like it. If I'm to take anything positive away from proper Thor's time as unworthy, it's that he'd become a bit lazy and complacent with his abilities. Pounding on things and the occasional lightning bolt shouldn't be all he can do. Hopefully this usurper can teach him how to make Mjolnir fly all over the place.

he hasn't lost most of these powers, writers seem to just think "if lightning isn't enough, have him use MORE lightning!"

Coolest thing I've seen him do in a while; and I can't believe I'm gonna give Hickman credit for something, is when he threw Mjolnir around a planet to increase momentum to kill a builder/aleph/rabum alal/whatever goes on in Avengers.

You should read the Jurgens run. He was regularly firing anti-force (whatever the hell that is) and absorbing energy with Mjolnir and such. Thor with Mjolnir was pretty much up there with the Silver Surfer for energy manipulation for a while, until writers simplified him down to just strength, flight, and lightning.

and I pray it doesn't indicate the direction the movies will go in...

I didn't feel like waiting either, I can always count on Reddit for comic spoilers. I don't really have any feelings, doesn't change how I feel about the character. Yeah, I'd hate to see that happen in the movies; though I doubt it'll happen.

I was curious about the female Thor. Was actually pretty open minded to the character, but now I've seen who it actually is it just kills any interest in the character whatsoever for me. It just seems like the least interesting choice.

Though I think it's safe to say the movies will never go in this direction. I just don't see that happening.

The only consistent thing I hear about Thor in the movie from female audiences is summed up as "Mmmmmmmm, Chriiiiis Hemswooooorth...yummy."

They'll do what they can to keep him under contract with his no-shirt obligations in each film. He's got major eye candy money power.

No choice was going to please everyone, and plenty of people made up their minds from the get-go that they would hate this... but of the candidates I'm happy with her the current hammer wielder.

Yes, it raises lots of questions, but I'd rather it be her than a newcomer or someone who has nothing to do with Thor. You know, for years Jane and Sif were combined into a single entity, she's had lots of experience with Asgardians, and her tragic predicament makes for good storytelling. Bonus points to them if, when this is all over, they go all the way with her sacrifice.

I'm surprised they're flat out lying though. There's being misleading and then there's straight up lying. Now you can't believe anything you hear. Then again, I guess they've been doing it since the "Dead means dead" days though.

She gave Thor a big ol kiss while proving she wasn't his mother. That would have been gross if it were any of the Thorsdottirs.
