By the Bristling Beard of Odin! The Thor Thread - Part 2

Which is ridiculous. Do we have to bring Bor in to figure this out? Asgardian magic has been frustrating ever since that weird Loki/Doom battle where Doom froze him in time.

Fury whispering only made Thor unworthy. It's implied that the reason Odin used to be capable of lifting the hammer was because it was his enchantment not because he was worthy. Now the enchantment has "grown" past Odin becoming more powerful than even him.
I was thinking it was more bloodline that does it for immediate family, example when Thor killed Bor and broke Mjolnr. Bor could lift Mjolnir too

Just read the latest issue... What a bunch of cringe inducing pandering crap. Obviously she is made to use Thor's hammer better than he ever could. Also needs to shove Creed's patriarchy in his face. "And that's for using feminism like it's a 4 letter word! " And of course Titania has to beat on Creed too and congratulate "Thor" for making such strides for super powered women all around the world. Of course there needs a few You Go Girl exchanges. Of course Odinson has to act like a spineless cuckhold and explain how he doesn't deserve his own name and proceed to be a stereotypical useless drunk male. **** this book so much, dropped.

That opening battle was indeed one of the worst things I've ever read. Girl-power.

Maybe bad karma will eventually come back to bite her in the rear. Probably not but we can always hope.

Is there really that much residual love for Fear Itself to make a table out of it??

Hell, I didn't think there was any... immediate love, i guess... for Fear Itself
That's an event best forgotten

Well the tables available for win 7&8 and the Xboxes are all Marvel and Star wars. There are more Thor related tables than Iron-Man and Cap (actually there are NO Cap tables)
I'll get a screen cap at work tonight to show what IS available

EDIT: I think it's more HAMMER love. There's supposed to be a Guardians of the Galaxy Table coming out with Ronan and HIS hammer too :more:

Only thing I liked about Fear Itself was Juggernaut's leisurely stroll of destruction across the Midwest and then fighting the Initiative kids.

Yeah, had that whole story revolved around the worthy Juggernaut, and the X-men's tiring battle to stop him, I would have liked the event much better

hell it could've just been 6 issues of Jugger-lossus and Powered up Cain Marko fighting and destroying s**t

WANT!!! Check out the new Diamond select Thor!

The following is a parody of what happened in Thor#5.
The only difference are Creel and Titanias roles are reversed and Thor is Thor.

What's with the obsession with "cuckolding" and how is it in any way actually descriptive of anything in this comic book?

Why go back to something I said 10 days ago and ignore what I just posted?

Don't worry Thor isn't actually being cuckholded but with his whiny defeated behavior and being so spineless as to relinquish his name he comes off as the sort of loser that would offer up his woman to an alpha while he watched and cried in the corner.

Probably because it's the second time I've seen it referenced in this thread, and again... It's not particularly descriptive of anything that is going on with the plot... other than it being the usual over the top-ness of online fanboy culture. It's a rather strange connection to make.

Been pretty much out of the Thor loop. Two thoughts, I rem a " What If " where Jane Foster was Thordis. What if Fury had said this " you could have prevented, Ragnarok killing Bill Foster" . Just a thought of a wild idea.

That was a while ago, plus Thor was actually dead at the time. That's a pretty convincing out for any responsibility in what happened to Bill Foster.

I have a feeling Fury's whisper has more to do with how recent events have made the original Thor unsure of himself. My theory is that he's surveilled Thor, just like every other major player, and noticed how ineptly he's handled various things lately, from being stymied by Malekith with politics to watching powerlessly while Agger ruined Broxton in totally legal ways. I think Thor got to a point where he was questioning whether a viking god of thunder is relevant in the modern world at all, and Fury said just the right thing to confirm that he's not.

The current Loki is a shadow of his former self magically. It seems like a lot of his power got lost in his death/rebirth cycle.

Also, as far as magic: There's some precedent in Thor's corner of the universe for magic shifting and changing. Loki mentions that dying and being reborn was one way to free himself from his own evil impulses because he, as a creature of magic, basically exists as a narrative. Change the story, change the person. Something similar may be happening with Mjolnir. Odin may have enchanted Mjolnir initially, but Thor and his actions have raised Mjolnir's profile to such an extent that its magic may be outgrowing and becoming even more powerful than Odin. Remember, the God Butcher arcs of Jason Aaron's previous series basically put forth the idea that Thor is literally the greatest god who ever lived in the entire universe.

Some of Loki's power was stolen, if he lost that it would make sense. In being reborn he might well gain only that power that was naturally his.
