By the Bristling Beard of Odin! The Thor Thread - Part 2

Man, I cannot WAIT for the 2nd Thors book! lol

Superman. :o

Justice League vs Avengers is not cannon. Also Odin temporarily allowed Superman to wield Mjolnir cause he was NOT able to lift again after using it to save the universe.

I own the series.

I am just LOVING this new book. Very different idea.

Read the new issue of Thors on Wednesday night. This book is so much fun to me.

Anyone been reading Weirdworld? You guys DO know it stars Arkon right?

I found it odd that some of the Crystar Cast is in the book lol

I'm a little dismayed by the lack of OG Thor in the post-Secret Wars solicitations. I hope they're not going to make his death fighting the Beyonders stick. I need more Thor/Jane interaction, plus that was kind of a pathetic way for him to go out. :csad:

Honestly, I'll just be happy when SW is over and we can get back to that story. I was enjoying that way more than I have anything in the event, but I'm stuck waiting for months on end to get back to it.

He was on the art that was released (doing his best Black Widow pose):

how much he'll actually figure into the story, and when he will get his damn hammer back (we know he's worthy after that Beyonder fight), that's anyone's guess

Yeah, that seems like more of a general, all-encompassing image about the ongoing Jane-Thor storyline. Doesn't give us much in the way of specifics.

Better not kill them off!

Wait, Bill's on that cover too tho, he was killed in Thors!

wait wait wait wonder if what made Thor Odinson unworthy is what gave Jane Cancer?

Pretty sure nothing from Battleworld is going to matter. By all indications, that might not even have been "our" Beta Ray Bill. Lord knows Rune Thor is absolutely nothing like his main universe counterpart.

Yeah, that definitely wasn't our Bill. Herc is the best thing about that poster. How I've missed him :atp:

I know I'm kind of late, but this image is epic!
I'm very excited about Mighty Thor.

I didn't mind his power level, I just thought they lost the magic of The Incredible Hercules with his new status quo. Part of it was the lowered power level, part of it was the art, part of it was the lack of a sidekick as good as Cho to bounce Herc's personality off of. It was a lot of little things that added up to a so-so comic, and when you're already a lower-tier character like Hercules, that means it'll be your last comic for a while. So, frankly, I'm just glad Herc's getting another series only a few years later.

There's a special place in Tartarus for you sir! :cmad:
You KNOW I loved Herc. I just hated they got rid of ALL the Olympians.
Tho, I still love the THORCULES books. I want MORE, was kind of hoping it would happen on Battle World at some point

I'm trying to keep up with Secret Wars only because I'm curious what they are doing with Thanos.

Aside from that, I've given up on Thor comics for now. I tried to get into it, and I just hated the whole Female-Thor angle.

Not cause she's a woman, but because she's not Thor. Same reason I hated Tanarus, God of Thunder (Ulik), except that sherade was short lived.

What's the current deal with Thor? Not jane (cause she's not Thor), but what is Thor actually doing? Is this "unworthy" Thor (who became worthy when fighting the beyonders) the same Thor from the future in the God Butcher Arc?

Yeah, Thor's still Thor. The first arc with Jane was actually about how, worthiness of Mjolnir notwithstanding, the true test of Jane's character would be whether she could live up to the legacy of Thor himself.

Anyway, the original Thor's story was handled over in the Avengers comics, for the most part. The Beyonders end up being the ones who started the Incursions (and thus the end of the multiverse). Thor, Hyperion, and some others head out to space to track them down, and Thor defeats an alternate version of himself with a hammer that only works for the UNworthy. When Thor and Hyperion are getting ready to fight the Beyonders, despite the odds, Thor finds that the unworthy hammer won't work for him anymore because he regained his worthiness. He laughs at the irony and then he and Hyperion are killed almost immediately because Beyonders. Then everything else ends shortly after and all the Secret Wars Battleworld stuff starts.
