I hate teh fact that you are right...and pray that you wrong, but...It doesn't matter how excellent Ledger is, there's no way he'll even be nominated for Best Supposting Actor, or anything, for that matter, because of the simple fact that TDK will be "just another superhero movie."![]()
not necessarily. batman begins was already hailed by critics as much more than a comic movie. it was like, it was the greatest comic movie of all time. but, if batman had never existed, and he was just created for that movie, it would have been one of the best movies of all time. at least, when you read the reviews, it seems that's the way a majority of them felt. so people in the business don't see begins as just another superhero movie. and if TDK is as good as i hope it will be, it will be much more than just another superhero movie. it will be a legendary film.It doesn't matter how excellent Ledger is, there's no way he'll even be nominated for Best Supposting Actor, or anything, for that matter, because of the simple fact that TDK will be "just another superhero movie."![]()

thank you. i always felt that way. but yes. begins has that comic book stigma and still somehow is considered among the top action/dramas. and nearly anyone who saw it will agree. i'd say non-comic fans appreciate it more, because if you have a burton-biased then you like it a little less. but anyone else didn't realize batman could be like that. they still remember adam west and they have the foul taste of schumacher in their throats.Precisely, you hit the nail on the head with the hammer!
The movie got rave reviews but if Batman was just created for Begins, it would have been acclaimed as something even more.
The fact that it's based off of a comic book, ultimately holds it back in this respect.

But, he's too busy fighting crime.
Yay news!
and Yay Heath!
AND dont be so quick to dismiss Heath's chances of an Oscar nom. Look at what LOTR did (not comparing the two, just saying)
normally i would say yes. but right now i think people are really loving this dark approach to batman. and i think people also really enjoy sick movies, if they are done properly. so i think the part of society who likes darker movies will really embrace this joker. and people who don't like dark movies wouldn't see the sequel to begins in the first place. My only fear are those who see Nicholson as Joker and only know the Joker due to Nicholson.
May they think the REAL Joker is "too extreme" since they are more familiar with the 'watered down' version? (which for a Tim Burton film is somewhat odd to say)
