It would awesome if in the DKR Nolan adds some of Batman's rogues gallery, similar to what was done in Batman Begins, however with more famous villains, such as the Penguin, the Riddler, or Harley Quinn.

It could be something as brief as Batman walking past a door in Arkham and the camera quickly shows Harley Quinn inside her cell with a straight jacket. I could imagine Batman on a mission that requires passing through the halls of Arkham, then he stops by a cell and looks through the window and sees a dark shadowed figure. As he moves on, the camera zooms in on the patient's name next to the door that reads, "Harley Quinn". The camera zooms out and we hear laughter as the next scene transitions.

Another route could be that as Batman is investigating a case, we get a five minute scene with Batman trying to secrete information from the Riddler. At the end of the scene Batman could just get pissed and throws the Riddler off to the side.

I know many people worry that the DKR has too many characters to balance, but not all characters are as important to the film's specific plot. I think it would be cool for Nolan to refer to other more prominent villains of Batman's rogue so that the general audience can feel as if Batman has been on various mini-missions between films.

Thoughts?

I'm all for cameos, but the "locked up in Arkham" scenario seems almost to easy and obvious, which isn't really Nolan's style. That said, if Nolan could find a way to make them relevant to the story, then I'm all for it.

I doubt Batman's going to be doing any walking freely around Arkham in TDKR.

What with the wanted by police and all.

Of course. I think, as I mentioned previously, that a brief interrogation scene with the Riddler would be ideal.

I'm pretty sure this won't happen and dosent really interest me in the least.

I think wishing for villain cameos is a lost cause but maybe supporting characters, like JGL yells something at the GCP station like "Bullock when are you gonna get off your ass and go after the Bat?". I would be happy with or without it but little easter eggs like that are fun, I dont think Nolan is a fan of that stuff though.

Well, nobody can really say what Nolan can and cannot do. I don't think that it's too far-fetched for another well-known villain to make a brief cameo. Besides, when we all watch this movie, we'll all be surprised one way or another. Maybe there will be a quick reference to other villains, and maybe there won't.

Maybe Nolan will blow everybody away and reveal a villain that was never mentioned through a major, unpredictable plot-twist! (j/k, but you never know...lol)

We did have Zsas in BB

Exactly. =)

I would consider Zsas a cameo, and something along those lines is always kind of interesting and gets a good smile out of people who are familiar with it..

No Harley Quinn! She wouldn't work in his films, and since she's tied to the Joker, who isn't going to be in this one anyway, it would be out of place. That and the Riddler being one of Batman's top villains getting a 5 minute scene would be out of place as well.

I was happy with Zsaz being in BB the way it was. Something like that (minor villain not related to the plot really and not in a lot of scenes at all) would be cool for TDKR.

I honestly wouldnt call that a cameo, he was in a couple scenes. When I think "cameo" I think a couple seconds of screen time.

ehhh, it's a cameo. He didn't have a point to the story and appeared in it a few times.

It would be neat to see the penguin buying a new umbrella in a shop, while the batmobile is driving down the street.

I'd call Zsasz a cameo. You could easily replace his character with any old thug, but they chose to include a member of Batman's rouges gallery as a nod to hardcore fans.

I guess I see it both ways, if he were only in the courtroom scene I'd definitely say it was a cameo, but as he's also trying to kill Rachel later in the narrows in a completely different scene so I think that debunks it, on the other hand he doesnt speak and he's in it for less than 30 seconds. I personally wouldnt say its a cameo but I can see how some consider it to be.

I would really like to see a ventiloquist/scarface cameo. maybe in the Iceburg Lounge.

I'm all for it. Since this is to be a trilogy, and we won't be getting the Penguin, the Riddler, the Mad Hatter, the Ventriloquist, etc. Personally, I'd :hrt: to see a scene during Bane's takeover (if that's what we're getting), while Gordon narrates something about the mob being completely taken over by the freaks, as we see this guy (Tom Conti):

...in Penguin-looking attire, at a table with other mobsters, when the door is kicked in, the room raided, with Bane entering the room behind his gang. Probably won't happen, but I'd love it.

The list of villains you could do a scene like this is interchangeable. I'm sure fanboys wouldn't mind. :yay:

I would be interested in cameos involving seeing the rogue's gallery PRIOR to them becoming supervillains...

for example, it would be very simple to have Bruce encounter a bunch of politicians at a party or something and have one of them be a stocky, penguin looking guy named Oswald Cobblepot... or to have Batman/Bruce speak with a scientist or something and have his name happen to be Victor Fries or Edward Nygma.... I always thought the Spiderman trilogy did this very well when it came to Doctor Connors...

I think that if there were an appearance by someone like Harley Quinn, it would be as Harleen Quinzel - perhaps a psychiatrist briefly mentioned or seen, where mostly the name tips us off. Something only fans would pick up on.
I don't really like the idea of so blatantly throwing these characters in TDKR, and don't feel like all of them would make sense at this point in Nolan's story.. maybe later on down the line (of course to be fair the timeline of the next film is unknown at this point, and anything could be happening out there in Gotham beyond what is seen). I just don't feel like it works so easily for this, I don't feel that characters like this would be established enough by that point in time to make such appearances. Maybe characters that vaguely resemble them in personality, but even then who knows if the plot is adequately set up in a way for them to come into much focus.

If something like this is applied, I would prefer it to be vague. For the *idea* to be planted in our minds based on some clever reference or something, but nothing too obvious. Or even being more up to interpretation.

(As a side note - if the virals pick up in the style they did last time, it would be more likely to see things like this surfacing there, like with the allusions to Penguin and Riddler we got in The Gotham Times.)

well i dont want Scarecrow back for one

I'd like to see the inside of Jokers cell, just as an homage to Heath

as long as they're realistic cameos, of villains that only wear suits

Why just people that wear suits? I understand not wanting to see mr freeze somewhere, but I thought they did a good job with zasaz.

Sounds interesting, I could totally imagine a scene similar to this.

Excellent idea. It'd be nice if somehow the Penguin and Falcone family were related somehow. They could be rivals or friends.
