Now why can't they announce who exactly Emily Van Camp will be playing if they give us the name of Redford's character, and Batroc too?

I imagine Batroc will probably be similar to the parkour henchman that Bond chased down in Casino Royale. As much screentime and development as that.

I love GSP to death, but his speaking voice is so bad he was dubbed over in the two martial arts B movies he appeared in.

Maybe Batroc is supposed to have a thick French accent for this. It fits the character.

It doesn't matter. They will dub him over to make him more understandable.

A lot of the original Bond actors were foreign and could speak English and they were playing foreign characters, but they were still dubbed over with English that was still accented.

There's also Maria Hill, and Jasper Sitwell. Both claim to have larger roles than in the Avengers.

Plus flashbacks with Howard Stark and Peggy Carter.

At this point I think the best hope is that movie runs 2 hours and 30 minutes long.

No disrespect to the actors, but it wouldn't take much for Hill and Sitwell to have expanded roles. More than ten lines of dialog would do it. Also, we've seen actors boast about having larger roles before and it's turned out to be an exaggeration in some cases.

Right, but he could be changed for the movie. If he's still speaking in English with a thick french accent, albeit broken, it would get the same point across but also make it a type of running gag.

They make changes to the characters all of the time for these MCU movies, and something like that wouldn't hurt the character imo. It could happen.

They're not going to freaking dub him over. They cast someone French so he could speak French or with a French accent.

I'm not talking about popularity either, I'm talking about how developed the characters were in the comics. And why wouldn't it make any sense? Crossbones originally worked with the commies in the comics IIRC, just like Winter Soldier.

It wouldn't make any sense because Crossbones is an extremely physical villain played by an american actor. He won't have any time to be doing any behind the scenes stuff because he's going to be busy fighting Captain America. Not to mention the fact that the "main" villain will either be Russian like in the comics or connected to HYDRA. Crossbones just doesn't fit the role of big bad at all.

Lets not forget Winter Soldier himself as a villain. When the central story revolves around a hero/villain/anti-hero type struggle, stacking the deck with too many villains might not be super wise.

What it comes down to in these movies these characters usually speak very little or have little to say.

Crossbones' entire look and alter-ego is inspired by Red Skull. He will presumably be involved in HYDRA like the Skull was.

She's not unrealistically attractive, since even in the movies, all SHIELD women are hot. That would just make her average since they would know no different.

I don't know if he's done any parkour but he's a black belt in a bunch of different martial arts, and his training regiment is super diverse. I'm pretty sure he's really good at gymnastics, too. The guy is just ridiculously fit, haha

That's what I was thinking. I think Brubaker had him strictly speaking French is his appearance in the comic during his run.

Batroc isn't black. Comic book movies never change the race of a character.

Wow... from the way you made it seem, this guy couldn't speak English without his thick French making it difficult for him to understand. You can easily understand what he's saying in the vid you posted, and now I'm actually more confident they won't dub over his accent.
