The Winter Soldier Captain America 2: News and Speculation - - - - - Part 18

Just got back. Oh man :D It was badass. Scarjo really surprised me here. She literally owns the role as Black Widow. Same can be said with Evans. He is Captain America! Sam L Jackson as Fury was great as he always is...and Cobie was good too. Wish she was in it more. Now, while this movie was great in its own way, it does raises some questions concerning S.H.I.E.L.D ... and I have some... So what becomes of shield?

OMG :wow: That was one HELL of a ride...I mean, my heck....

I think I'm still trying to process everything :funny: Movie has definitely taken over the #2 spot on my fav list (sorry Thor:TDW!!! - Avengers, you're still safe....... for now :oldrazz:). I loved the music, I loved the flow of the story, the pacing, the dynamics between the different characters.

I do wish there had been a bit more of The Winter Soldier (but I chalk that up to me fangirling than anything else :oldrazz: - I was at least pleased that even though we didn't get a shirtless Cap, we at least got the shirtless WS :hubba: I'm terrible, I know), but everything between him and Cap was exactly what I was hoping it would be and hit all the right notes with me, especially that ending including [BLACKOUT]the end credit scene with Bucky looking at his own feature in the Smithsonian[/BLACKOUT].

Definitely going to try and go see again next week (my sister is on spring break, I get off of work at 2PM everyday, we should be able to work something out). I think though that we might get seats a *little* further back. With where we were sitting, with how the action was handled and especially with some of the close quarters combat between Cap and others, it was sometimes hard to follow on the big screen.

Better yet...NOW I DON'T HAVE TO SKIP POSTS MADE UP ENTIRELY OF SPOILER TAGS!!! :funny:

It's going to be interesting to see where Agents of SHIELD goes from here

I need to catch up on Agents of Shield since I only saw the Pilot. I am curious as to where SHIELD is gonna go... and where the characters like Fury and Hill go...same goes with Cap and Black Widow.

I just got back.

HOLY ****.

Words cannot describe the feelings I had while watching this wonderful, wonderful thrill ride of a movie.

Pitch perfect direction and tone. Astonishingly directed and edited action sequences and kick ass fight coreography. For the first time Sam Jackson seemed to be playing Nick Fury as a human and not just doing his Sam Jackson thing. Anthony Mackie was charming and bad ass and I'm not usually a fan of Scarlett Johansson but she did a good job. Sebastian Stan was creepy, badass and cool and Chris Evans is just it. He brings so much heart and passion and goodness to Steve Rogers. This is just such a great role for him.

Everything about this film seemed so self assured. Unlike most of the past Marvel films the humor didn't overwhelm the story and the movie felt way more mature and like it actually had something to say about the world we live in. I want to cuddle with this movie, I wanna kiss it good night and whisper sweet, sweet nothings in it's ear. This felt like a real film.

But did you like it? :woot:

This movie has really set a bar for future solo movies IMO. The writers/directors for Thor 3 really need to sit back, take their time and piece together something that can stand to-to-toe with this film quality wise. I'm pretty certain Edgar Wright will make a fine movie and i hope James Gunn has put together something good as well, but this is the standard now. Marvel Studio's can't go backwards from this.

Well put. But I don't have much confidence Cap will be as well represented in the Avengers sequels. Whedon doesn't seem to get Cap very well, he's not the kind of character that Whedon likes to write, i.e. someone with quirky sarcasm, so Whedon doesn't quite know what to do with him. He also doesn't understand how to represent Cap action-wise, saying that all he does is "punchy".
:whatever:

I'm pretty sure Whedon is a Cap fan.....

He couldn't really do much with Cap action wise since he didn't have much to work with after TFA.

I don't disagree with you. I definitely preferred Cap's character in TWS over The Avengers.

But perhaps Whedon will take the Russo brother's creative opinion for AoU. And then there's always Cap 3.

I really did. I must see it again. :woot:

Just one question. Did your mother fall asleep? :D
Surprisingly she did not. As a matter of fact during the action and fight sequences she was punching the air and quietly cheering on the good guys. :funny: She loved it as well.

Captain America's action scenes in AOU worry me, too. Whedon can't just go back to having Cap as a straight-up brawler who occasionally hops around a bit. In TWS the Russos elevated Steve Rogers' fighting style immensely. His power and athleticism were showcased so perfectly that it will be jarring if he goes back to the very basic style of TFA and TA. Now that the audience has seen two hours of Captain America kicking the **** out of everyone in sight less than that simply will not do.

Does anyone know whether Marvel is using the same fight coordinator fo AOU as CATWS? Having the person(s) who created Cap's combat style working on AOU could only help matters, not merely for him but for the other characters as well. Thor's fighting style could definitely use some work, for one.

Our mothers have something in common. TWS was one of those rare occasions where they actually stayed awake for a whole film in the theater. After seeing it on Thursday, I took my mother to see it on Friday, and she loved it. First Marvel film she actually wanted to discuss after it was over.

Yeah I haven't dicussed it with her too much but I know she liked the political angle. My dad doesn't go to the movies and he's picky but I think he might like this when it hits VOD.

My father pretty much has one criteria for movies. Does it have cowboys, does it have trains, does it have gangsters, does it have blues? If so, put it on. :funny:

I can't believe Capcom will never make another Marvel vs. Capcom. Still, they are showing their respect for our hero. A salute to the Captain.

:funny: My dad is all about the cowboys as well...and NCIS.
My father watches Justified. He doesn't know what is going on half the time, but he watches it. That and anything with Gordon Ramsay for some reason.

But on to something a bit more on topic, and perhaps even more important. Chris Evans in TWS or Henry Cavill in MoS? Or has Sebastian Stan or Anthony Mackie stole your heart? :hehe:

What better way to spend my birthday than recognizing the cosmic miracle of Captain America 2 opening the same day? Gonna wrangle about twenty kids to watch it with and partaaaaaaaaaaaaay Marvel-style!!!

There's a poster in CHUD forum that said he thinks Evans is the best Superman since Christopher Reeves. I can't help but agree with this statement somewhat.

.

This. This movie has by far the best hand to hand combat in any comic book movie. Whedon has to bring it with AOU
