Infinity War Captain America|Steve Rogers - Chris Evans

Why does Cap look better in the Avengers suit in these pictures than the first time around?

Because it's the helmet that throws everything off. He was fine in the first Avengers once he got rid of it.

I've never been a big fan of Captain America in these movies( too much of a boyscout and he always has one line in each film that's so self righteous that I cringe and roll my eyes over) but he deserved better than this film.

I don't care if he's gonna get a bunch of spotlight in the next film. There was no excuse for his treatment here. This guy is the Avenger's leader! They should have done better by him.

And Evans is usually a reliable performer, but here I felt like he was just sleepwalking through the role. Obviously there wasn't much there on the page for him, but he wasn't even able to rise over the meager scraps the writers gave him.

I know this movie is overstuffed with characters and whatnot, but I just feel like Steve is still one of those characters that shouldn't be so thin like he was here. They couldn't throw a rousing speech his way or something? He always has a stand out moment in each film, but not here. As it is I feel like his most stand out moment was the "I am Steve Rogers" joke, which should not be the case.. I pray they do better by him next movie.

The guy was basically the star of Avengers 2.5.

People act like this is the DCEU and we aren’t going to be guaranteed more screen time in the future with the main cast.

Cap wasn't as involved as I was expecting but he still played his part and I think he'll be at the forefront of the fightback in Avengers 4.

I just hope, I know it's a sliver of a hope,
but with us knowing about how time can be twisted and jumped, I think it would be a great heroic moment if Cap has to go back into time and comes across Mjölnir, and he shows he is worthy of picking it up and wielding it.

I also wonder if Cap is going to cross paths with
The Red Skull
?

Yeah def Cap got shortchanged. We could have with 5 more minutes of him, BW and Falcon doing their thing before they got to Vision.

Interesting quote by Markus:

As for the lack of screentime devoted to Cap and Black Widow, Markus says it mostly came down to character:

“Some of the people, when you weigh up who you are seeing, seem to take a little bit of a back seat in this one. When we did crack them, what we realized was they had far more potential in the movie coming next year, just in terms of how their character would be tested by the story. I’m not telling you what the story is. I will say there is less Steve Rogers and Natasha (Scarlett Johansson) than you might expect in this movie [Infinity War]. Because they are such hard-bitten people, when a threat comes, they stand there and they take the threat. They don’t crack. They don’t whimper. They don’t start talking about all their failed opportunities. So, there isn’t that much to explore, especially when you don’t have a lot of time. But there’s a lot later.”

I for sure wish there was more Steve in this but what was done made sense for the film and with consideration of all they had to balance. Plus, Steve is still the moral heart of the Avengers as they make him the mouthpiece philosophically speaking for the point of view that is the polar opposite of Thanos' extreme utilitarianism.

In all honest he was dangerously close to feeling like a cameo. That's how thin the writing was for him. The commercials had us fooled - especially with that shot of him struggling with the big paw of Thanos.

That was one of the best moments in the whole movie, though and the most emotional part
of that fight (Wanda and Vision romance was so rushed and poorly developed I couldn't care less)
. Evans was great in that scene

To be honest, I could care less about all of the romances going on in this film except for Tony and Pepper, and I prefer they leave them out of big assembles like this, and concentrate more on the core of the story.

Wanda and Vision's relationship is essential for giving context and emotion to the scene where Vision gets sacrificed. I thought their dynamic in 'Civil War' was charming, the Russos and M & M did a very savvy job setting them up to lead into IW.

Olson's acting in the climactic scene was so good, she pulled the whole audience along with her. She's a big part of what makes the whole thing work. Of all the things that surprised me about this movie, how much it made me love Scarlet Witch is maybe the most surprising.

Guys...SPOILERS!

I am seriously getting sick of saying this. There is an announcement in the forum header, I have posted a warning in basically every thread. This is is not hard.

I still want a Captain America 4 but I don't think that's gonna happen if Evans retires from the role if he is truly done and honestly the Captain America franchise is pretty much done anyway like where can you really go after Civil War?

You could say that about the MCU as a whole. There's always places you can go, but ultimately I think Kevin Feige sees that it that way, too.

Gotta say, Steves looks grumpy as hell in the movie. Those 2 years hit him hard.

I loved
Caps first appearance. That catching of the lance/trident was pure BOSS.

So badass like everyone in the theater cheered when he showed up for the first time

So, the half of the Collider Heroes panal seemed to think that[BLACKOUT] Steve and Nat where an item in IW.[/BLACKOUT].

I really didn't get that vibe at all. Did anybody else get that vibe ?

That old guy is letting his fantasies come to the forefront of his mind.
He's 100, probably thinks guys and gals can't be platonic.

I always viewed Cap and Nat as having a sort of sibling relationship.

I didn't read that, either. I can kind of see maybe why they thought it, but I don't agree with that assessment.

So as a huge Cap fan naturally I was a little down Cap wasn't showcased a little more in this film but I understood it. That being said I fully expect him to shine and be one of the main focused characters the way Stark was in this film. I will also bet my bottom dollar we will finally hear him say "Avengers Assemble" in A4.

Could you imagine?
All the heroes who vanished are saved and in their last charge towards Thanos
Cap yells "Avengers Assemble!"

Leading to an epic 1 hour battle,
with Cap's speech (from comics) given to Thanos near the end.
