Infinity War Captain America|Steve Rogers - Chris Evans

[blackout]It's going to be either Cap or Tony in A4, I would agree. My money is still on Iron Man. The vision in AoU tells me he has to "do more" in order to prevent the others from dying. Doing more for me means, he dies. Besides, if this ends up being RDJ's last ride, I cannot think of a more epic way to go out. I think Cap will move into more of a mentor role going forward. One that will allow Evans to either retire or comeback much less frequently so he can pursue other projects as well.[/blackout]
I really hope so but I'm leaning toward both of them kicking the bucket.

I think the character is kinda reeling from all of it and ultimately he is forced to retake a mantle he doesn't feel he wants. However I feel in Avengers 4, Cap will return as a force to be reckoned with
Agreed

[blackout]
I think that will be a big part of his arc in Avengers 4, and he will seek to redeem himself by reuniting the Avengers once again in order to combat Thanos.
[/blackout]
Definitely, making him yelling "Avengers Assemble" even more powerful.

Agreed. He better say it! :cap: [blackout]If Cap lives through Avengers 4, I see him making a promise to ensure that Earth is never caught off guard like this again, and to always make sure there are Avengers to save the day[/blackout]

Steve Rogers running SHIELD restoring it to its former glory could you imagine That?

NO. It's bad enough that they just swept the accords under the carpet for BP and IW. It completely contradicts his character development in WS and CW for him to become the head of a massive security bureaucracy. NO, NO, NO.

'It all goes, Nick.'

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Chris Evans the most sure he's done after Avengers 4? He signed on to do it past his 6 movie contract, probably ensuring that Cap does not return after A4. Did RDJ say he was done, too?

Both have basically been non-committal.

Ah. Whelp, it could go the obvious route [blackout]of Tony retiring and Cap dying[/blackout] or it could be something totally shocking.

[BLACKOUT]Cap retiring and Tony dying[/BLACKOUT]

Cap dying is my next best guess I am merely speculating for all I know I could be wrong

Of all the character interactions that we haven't seen yet, I'm most looking forward to the moment when Peter Quill meets the rest of the Avengers, considering he left earth in 1988:

'Holy ****, is that Captain America??'

RDJ will always be Marvel's ace up the sleeve.

If they ever need to pull out their own "Old Man Stark" they'll get in touch with him.

They don't have that same relationship with Evans and Cap.

RDJ is also 53.

Well, we are dealing with a world that has time travel, so I just can't get all worked up now if someone dies. If box office starts to go down, I can see them pull the time travel thing and revive someone like Cap or Tony, or even Loki to bring the audience back.

If Steve dies and they ever want to bring him back, rather than resurrect him I think it's way more likely that they would use time travel to have an adventure with Cap that takes place in the past(say, if Kang gets involved in the MCU). That way Evans could come back to play Cap in an appropriate time period without cheapening his death in the 21st century.

Hemsworth seems to have a fire in his belly for Thor again.

While I won't mind Cap taking time off from the team if they gave Evans some good meaty stuff in A4 maybe he will change his mind. He's still very young and could do the part even if they give him a few years off. Evans is really popular in the role and I could see Marvel and Feige giving him a rest but not making Cap a casualty so as to keep their options open.

Lets be honest the MCU is basically Iron Man's story.

However, Cap's franchise is pretty much done I mean his trilogy was essentially a cash cow you can't do a Captain America 4 especially if Evans is done so what is the next best thing to do? You simply have Rogers retire or you have him go out in a blaze of glory...only 2 options you have pretty much

Might have started that way, but Cap's trilogy is widely considered the best and all three showings I've gone to of Infinity War, the audience always cheered the loudest when Cap first makes his appearance.

Actually Cap still has two open arcs that they haven't closed out yet.

I always wanted to see Cap battle Red Skull at least one more time.

My comment had absolutely nothing to do with what fans like.

Did you watch IW?

That movie is further proof of what I said.

Englehart's Nomad story (see also Gruenwald's The Captain, see also Civil War, see also Roger Stern's Cap #250).

Cap has turned from the government on a number of occasions. Contrary to popular belief the Nomad story, although the first of it's kind, was far from the ONLY time Steve has fallen away from the government. As such, when Steve went back to being Cap, after the numerous times he had one of these aforementioned 'falling outs', he would come to the same epiphany, over and over, so much so that this epiphany has became quintessential to the character. And it marks the very reason Steve has lasted as a character, never falling out of fashion, because this realization that Steve has after Nomad, after The Captain, after serving as Top Cop makes Steve transformative.

I do not wear the flag in support of the government, I wear the flag in support of the dream.

The Nomad arc doesn't end until Cap picks up the shield again. And for some variation of the aforementioned reason, i.e. I Serve The Ideal Not the Reality™. What that 'ideal' is can change with the times.

Second unfinished arc: The Accords (SHRA)

They are still present. In fact, despite how busy Infinity War was, the writers went out of their way to include a Ross cameo to remind us of them. In the comics, when Steve came back from being 'not dead' (he didn't actually die, he was traveling through time) he defeated Norman Osborn following the Secret Invasion/Dark Reign/Siege storylines. And when that happened he was made Commander Rogers - America's Top Cop, overseer of SHIELD and the Avengers - and overturned the SHRA and pardoned everyone who was on his side during Civil War.

So, there you go, Nomad/The Captain/Civil War and the Accords are both Steve's to tie up. Not allowing Steve to tie those up would be bad writing, and a punch in the face to fans of the character.
