Infinity War Captain America|Steve Rogers - Chris Evans

Crazy to think that he's played Cap in a movie every year since his debut, that's what 8 years now. Most of the other guys get a year off. I wonder if any other character will break that record down the line.

Not sure how the movie schedules worked out but I recall reading Evans did take a yr off, think it was after Civil War perhaps.

He still filmed those school things for Homecoming

Technically, he did not play Cap in the 2013 movies. He played Loki imitating Cap, LOL

I'm not familiar with the Infinity Gauntlet story-line from the comics... does Thanos kill Cap after this confrontation?

Thanos killed everyone in Infinity Gauntlet. The only people left alive were Adam Warlock and Nebula.

Hulk got smashed, Iron Man was beheaded, Spider-Man strangled, Thor turned to glass and then shattered, Scarlet Witch laser beamed, Namor and She-Hulk consumed by some weird pink substance and Steve punched (but before he was punched he got his own punch in to Thanos' face).

Then Nebula got the gauntlet off of Thanos and reset the universe 48 hours, so everyone who had died was brought back.

What's next on Evan's plate?

I see Hemsworth with like 3 films a year since playing Thor while Evans barely has a film every few years (outside of playing Cap).

He wants to direct.

Possibly becoming a next gen MCU director? Or maybe stepping away fromn heroes entirely. I'd say he deserves it post A4. He's given an outstanding performance as Cap.

I doubt he wants to direct an MCU film at this point. Even if he did, he only has 1 director credit to his name at this point with Before We Go. While I thought the movie was good, that movie was hardly on the scale an MCU film would be. I am not sure Chris is where he can tackle directing a superhero film at this point. Maybe one day.

I would like to see Steve survive and have the option to return in smaller roles in the future, though. I'm hoping he takes over Fury's role or mentors the next Avengers team. Selfishly, I would want another solo to tie-up his battle with the Red Skull, but I don't ever see it happening. If we get closer to that thread, would have to be somewhere in IW or A4.

Even though Evans wants to direct, it would be a real shame if he stepped away from acting entirely. Dude has a lot of talent. Now, he's not a Christian Bale chameleon type, but he's certainly got a lot of range. Especially when you compare his performances as Cap with his role in Snowpiercer or his performance as Johnny Storm (i.e. the only good thing about those lousy F4 movies).

He's charismatic but I never thought much of him. He can do comedy well like both Hemsworth and Pratt. Can all the Chris's make us laugh :sly: maybe Chris Pine as well.

But Snowpiercer and his role as Cap proved he can act. He's no Gyllenhaal or Gosling or Garfield, but he's pretty good for his generation.

He's not retiring from acting, though he's probably going to take some time off soon and he's said he's reading scripts for his next film as a director.

He's currently on Broadway in Longergan's Lobby Hero until mid May and he filmed Red Sea Diving Resort last year on location in Africa in between filming Avengers 3 and 4.

Captain America with a mustache would’a been too perfect.

He’s getting rave reviews on his Broadway debut, too. Good for Evans. He’s not as glamorous as Tony but he’s the best part of the MCU IMO. Without his genuine, haunted idealism, the MCU is weightless.

It will be sad when Evans leaves, but at least he got an opportunity to be apart of something truly marvelous . His career has been stretched out to becoming a unique actor as a result of playing Steve Rogers / Captain America.

I mean, I am biased since Cap is my favorite, LOL! But I totally agree. I think he is the true heart of the MCU. Easily best character, and I still feel the character has lots left in the tank. Iron Man I kind of feel has run his course.

Oh I agree he is the core heart of The Avengers. Steve definitely stands out more . As he should just like in the comics. Captain America is important.

That's a great description and why the idea of handing down the mantle as if the mantle and not Steve Rogers is what's vital and important to the MCU leaves me cold.

Tony is my 1A though and I think there's lots of story left for him as well.

I honestly don't think they're killing Steve. And it's more than just that I feel his arc isn't over yet; they haven't tied up Nomad or the Accords and I'm 100% positive they're heading towards the Secret Invasion/Dark Reign in the MCU and Steve was the one to ultimately take out Osborn in the comics (who I feel will be replaced with Thaddeus Ross in the MCU). But it's all the things they're doing to promote him elsewhere.

The comics have been trying the capitalize of the movies of late and just yesterday Marvel tweeted that they're making a big announcement today involving Steve, T'Challa, Peter (Parker) and Carol. Interesting choice of four characters to team up, don't you think?

I love RDJ's Stark, don't get me wrong, but for some reason, it just kind of feels like time for me. Especially as I have marathon-ed all the films (still have to watch BP again), and after watching them all again, it just to me feels like it is Stark's time. I feel like it's been foreshadowed, and given RDJ's age and how important he has been to the MCU since day one, he has earned the chance to go out on the grandest stage possible, and what stage will be grander than Avengers 4, the end of an era?

Conversely, I still feel like Steve has a role moving onward. Taking that role I feel Stark is leaving behind, and helping the newer guys grow into a team. It just for me feels right.

The special announcement was made already. It was that the Fantastic Four are coming back to comics. Look at the post date of that tweet, 3/28/2018. Tomorrow would have been 3/29/2018, aka yesterday. That was the big news yesterday.

Bummer. I mean not a bummer that the F4 are coming back, I'm excited. But weird that they said they were making an announcement and they used Steve, T'Challa, Peter, and Carol's symbols in the tweet and the announcement had nothing to do with Steve, T'Challa, Peter and Carol.
