That final modern day scene made the ending of the movie, imo. So bittersweet and poignant. The one shot of the kids with the trashcan lids wasn't enough for a satisfying ending, imo. It would have left me with a lingering "That's...it?" feeling. Maybe if there was a little more of that stuff - shots of Cap's legacy, that is - then it could have been a real conclusion, but as it was? Nah. It was more of a comma than a period, if that makes any sense, whereas the final scene turned it into an ellipsis with a firm "To Be Continued" at the end. Which at least works as a type of ending, unlike a comma would.
