I don't remotely think it'll matter for Carol Danvers because she's Captain Marvel, not Ms. Marvel. That being said, I think a movie set in the 80s can get away with it more since swimsuits like that were far more common.

I had a similar thought, and for some strange reason, I'm not all that bothered by her costume. I think she looks badass.

If Fox could pull off the classic Psylocke swimsuit costume and have it look so good and not overly sexualised at all, then perhaps Marvel could do the classic Warbird costume for Carol Danvers?

This costume is a thing of beauty. The women's costumes in the MCU have been rather boring and generic so far. And people have argued that the more comic accurate costumes for women wouldn't work, like for Scarlet Witch, Elektra or Carol Danvers, all of whom have swimsuit-like costumes.

But Psylocke's looks perfectly respectable and really cool. I hope Marvel are paying attention. Psylocke's costume is very similar to the Warbird one, right down to the thigh-high boots, sash and swimsuit. If they made it that the Kree wear something like this, then it could look faithful and yet kick ass.

So, I've been watching Chuck on Netflix. I'm on season four, and I just love this show. Chuck is a hero to all nerds. Casey is probably the funniest character on the show, just because of how ridiculously serious he is. My favorite Casey moment was when he brainwashed Lester to help out Morgan. "Morgan Grimes is the kindest, warmest, most understanding human being I've known in my life."

Oh, and then there's Sarah. She's just amazing. The more I watch that show, the more I want Sarah Walker to become Captain Marvel. She's got the right mixture of charm, intelligence, and beauty to capture Carol Danvers. I must agree with InCali. That show has some great "cinematography." Here are some other reasons she's perfect for the role:

1. She's a spy, and Carol Danvers worked with the CIA. Was Carol working on the Intersect? Is Chuck Bartowski really Michael Rossi?

2. In Chuck's first solo mission on board an airplane, Shaw referenced Sarah's background as a pilot. Carol was a fighter pilot back in her Air Force days. Shaw called her "Captain Walker." That sounds a lot like "Captain Marvel."

3. Sarah Walker has an estranged relationship with her father, just like Carol did.

4. Sarah also lost her memories, just like Carol did.

Why has this woman not been cast as Captain Marvel yet?!

Ha, I love that this board has created at least two new Chuck fans due to the Yvonne/Carol talk. It warms the heart. Glad you've enjoyed it so much Mike. I've been re-watching it a lot recently too. I think it's safe to say that's becoming my go-to feel-good show.

And while I absolutely do NOT subscribe to the notion that because Sarah and Carol have a lot of story similarities it makes Yvonne a good choice, I do think she'd be a great choice because of what she brought to the role - warmth, gravitas, toughness, vulnerability, believability and likability - all qualities that would serve her well as Carol. I feel like her work on the show was pretty underrated because she wasn't one of "the funny ones" on it (though she certainly had her moments, especially in later seasons when they let Sarah lighten up a bit), but what becomes clear the more I watch it is that she's really the one who grounded the whole damn show. She was the one whose job it was to sell the drama of the situations, and it's because she was always so natural and believable and completely sold the stakes (whether we're talking Chuck's fate or "the world's" fate) that the whole endeavor worked. Zach Levi was great w/ the lighthearted stuff and the sweet, quiet, poignant moments, but when things got really dramatic, he tended to get a bit over-the-top, imo, and I honestly don't think he could have sold that drama on his own. Yvonne's the one who brought it home pretty much every time.

Of course none this matters because she doesn't stand the slightest chance of being considered for this role, I'm sorry to say. So my top choice remains Emily Blunt because she's just as perfect for it, amazingly talented and a FAR more realistic option. But hey, if Yvonne turned out to be some Chris Pratt-esque "who?" pick, I'd be thrilled, lol.

So my top choice remains Emily Blunt because she's just as perfect for it, amazingly talented and a FAR more realistic option. Well, I think Yvonne would have a better shot at most. She's got two movies coming out this year, hopefully a lead role, so we'll see how she does. Emily Blunt is most likely to get the coveted role. She turned Marvel down twice, but Marvel wasn't the behemoth it is today back when they were casting for Nat and Peggy Carter. Its likely if Marvel does ping Blunt for the role, she'll be accept, and my heart will be broken, but still kind of happy I guess. You have a great point about Pratt. Who would have guessed that the guy from Parks and Rec. could be a superhero?

Blunt only turned down Marvel once on her own accord, and the other because of scheduling issues.

But I agree, Blunt has this in the bag if she's offered.

Yeah, the way I see it, Emily basically turned down Peggy Carter as a "consolation role" after being forced to drop out of being Black Widow due to Fox being jerks. I don't think she has - or had - any aversion to working with Marvel whatsoever. She'd take this role in a heartbeat, imo.

I can't even remember where I read this but someone on the know made a comment before that even if it doesn't work out right away, Marvel has the tendency to still go back to the pool of actors that they like to eventually find roles for them. So yeah... I can definitely see Blunt being one of their top tier choice.

So, I watched Ant-Man. Its nice to know there are now only 7 movies before Captain Marvel.

I really liked the Falcon fight, and I was wondering if they could have Carol fight one of the New Avengers, or maybe all of them in her movie. That would be badass. I think Vision vs Captain Marvel would be a pretty badass fight.

yeah me and the GF just started watching Chuck again too
forgot how much I friggin love Yvonne (the gf deals with it because every time Chris Evans shows up on the TV she squeeee's with delight)
I still don't know how well she could hold her own against a Downey Jr or the like in the acting department, but if Carol (whomever plays her) has Sarah Walker's personality and charm, Marvel will have another winner

Her most recent love interest is War Machine since KSD did nothing to establish the relationship. In her Ms Marvel days, she hooked up with Wonder Man and Michael Rossi, and of course Mar-Vell.

Supposedly Frank Gianelli is another one too. Aside from a small cameo in KSD's run, I know nothing of him. Michael Rossi is a big one, though, particularly when Carol Danvers was in X-Men.

Carol (before becoming Ms. Marvel) was interested in Mar-Vel (though at the time, he was already steady with a Kree nurse named Una). Oddly enough, after Carol was transformed, they seem to have only crossed paths once, to defeat Ronan, though they did share a kiss at the end of that, "for old times sake".

Frank Gianelli was a flirtatious coworker when Carol was managing Women magazine under JJJ. He stole a kiss at an office party once, surprising Carol, but I don't think they ever really dated.

The closest thing I can think of to a regular relationship that Carol had in those early issues would have been with Michael Barnett, her psychiatrist who was helping with her blackout issues. He may have been the first to discover her secret identity as Ms Marvel (he knew even before Carol did). He's later killed.
