Yeah, they're usually pretty flirtatious in their interactions in the comics, and now that I think about it, Peter's main love interest in the comics (Kitty Pryde) is legally off-limits for Marvel, while depending on the age of the actress they cast as Carol, 50-year-old Don Cheadle might be a bit too old for Rhodey to be a good match with her, so Carol/Star-Lord might be a decent alternative for the MCU. Like you said, at the very least, they will DEFINITELY bond over Star Wars whenever they meet, haha. So yeah I could dig it. A lot. t:

Yeah, I can't imagine she'd ever be cast. Captain Marvel is Marvel's premiere female character. They are going to have to make sure they get a legitimately great actress for this role.

if Disney/Marvel have any actual plans on using Captain Marvel in their universe for about three solo films, they certainly won't be picking an MMA fighter to be the face of the character for the next 10 years plus. Can you imagine Drax having a solo movie? He was great in Guardians for what they had him do but he's no headliner.

Another thing that makes Rousey being cast as Carol extremely unlikely is that if they haven't given Scarlett Johansson her own movie yet, I don't see them putting millions of dollars behind Rousey. Maybe if she was playing a supporting character with few lines something like Bautista in Guardians, but as a title character in her own movie? No way. I still expect Marvel is looking for an actress as bankable as Johansson. Which is why I think Emily Blunt is pretty likely. Not to mention how they tried getting her twice already for other MCU roles.

It's clear Marvel Studios has wanted her to join the MCU since Phase 1. I just hope she joins as Carol Danvers because in my view, she is pretty much the most ideal actress for this role. Other actresses like Abbie Cornish and Katheryn Winnick I'm sure would do just fine but if Marvel can get Emily Blunt, I really think we would be in for a real treat.
