Captain Marvel Captain Marvel General Discussion and Speculation - Part 2

she'd be great but they may not have the rights to use her bc she's tied to the X-men. I know she debuted in a Ms. Marvel comic but her entire history and backstory is tied with the X-line. You would need to be able to use the Shi'ar for a film with Deathbird and they are with FOX.

Then The Kree would work for the first film but if there are any sequels then for the sequel I would use The Hood or even Moonstone

Yon-Rogg and the Kree seem like the obvious choice to me for Captain Marvel's origin movie villains.

And in other news, grass is green. I think I'll take that with a truck load of salt. He is just saying what fans have assumed will happen. But, recent comments from Feige would seem to suggest otherwise.

Man, can someone just rip out his tongue? He's gotten enough wrong for us to earn the right to tell him to shut it.

It's nonsense, it's not going to happen. For one thing, Jennifer Lawrence doesn't want to be in blockbuster films anymore (she didn't want to be in that one). Second, she'll be too recognizable, which will take people out of the movie.

For another thing, she's plays a character for "another" studio that does Marvel movies. I don't think Marvel/Disney would go there.

Course they did for Cap, but, still.......no, I don't think so.

Well, Marvel and WB don't have a problem hiring actors from other franchises, usually. What makes it most unlikely is what Mike said: she seems sick of blockbusters and wants to focus on more serious, dramatic work. She was clearly bored with the Hunger Games sequels and likely only did the two X-Men sequels because she couldn't get out of her contract.

I can't see her signing on with the MCU, where she'd be "on call" for years, so to speak.

I don't disagree with Mike or you, but still don't see a whole lot of Xover for major players (EDIT: I'm speaking specifically about the SH genre here). The only one who comes to mind immediately is Chris and FF was pretty much long gone by the time Cap rolled around.

I really cannot wait to see who will they cast for Captain America.

I thought the superhero showdown in Civil War was cool and I can't wait to see that gang back in Infinity War with Thor, Hulk, Doctor Strange, Nick Fury and hopefully Captain Marvel too.

Chris Evans is currently playing Captain America in the Marvel movies. I guess some people really do live under rocks.

Grains of salt time!

Rumour: Emily Carmichael To Direct "Captain Marvel"
A couple of things have been brought to my attention from a fan who seems to be following Captain Marvel very closely and has basically been connecting the dots on social media. And by connecting the dots, we literally mean connecting every dot.

One of the screenwriters for Captain Marvel, Nicole Perlman, very recently followed Emily Carmichael on Twitter. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Camichael, she’s yet to direct a feature film but with how FOX took a chance on Tim Miller directing Deadpool, it’s not out of the realm of possibilities. Okay, so one of the writers frollowed her on Twitter. Big deal, right? Well, here’s where it gets interesting.

[Instagram photo]

The photo initially said “on my way to a Disney meeting” but then was changed to what it currently reads now, which simply says: "I look a way" – possibly to not reveal this so soon.

If you happen to watch some of the shorts that she’s made, tonally, they definitely fit with what Marvel is doing and she has a lot of great indie credentials which include Sundance, Tribeca SXSW, 25 New Faces of Independent Film, etc. Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly also follow her on Twitter and with Star Wars a part of the Disney family, this could very well make sense.
ScreenGeek

If the rumour about a director & actress with the same first names being in contention is true... Blunt :oldrazz:

Looked her up on Google and Twitter. Despite never directing anything major, the woman definitely has some cred. She's also a nerd, a feminist and she loves Winter Soldier. Based on her tweets she's not lacking in humour either.

And yeah, her name is Emily. :awesome:

Either way since she is confirmed for Infinity War and if Infinity War is before her origin film it makes total sense especially because that is how Marvel has introduced T'Challa/Black Panther by introducing him in Civil War before his solo origin film

So by introducing Carol before her film is actually a good move

The Russos also tried to back pedal by claiming that Carol dies in her own movie.

Carol won't die in her own film I mean even that is obvious

So, this is what was actually said according to someone on Reddit:

Someone from the crowd asked him about the challenge of writing Infinity War using characters who hadn't debuted in their own movies yet, as in Dr Strange or Captain Marvel. He responded that they'd done it before with Black Panther and Spider-Man, and there was room at Marvel for directors to put their own interpretation into characters so they'd be fine with Captain Marvel. The questioner caught him and asked "so you're confirming that Captain Marvel is in your movie?" And they spent the rest of the night periodically joking about her death in her own film.

That's not really a reveal. It was saying they had no problem with it in a hypothetical situation. They followed that by their joking manner so you can't really tell what's true and not. Now she might very well be in the movie, but the headline should reveal "The Russo Brothers joke about adding Captain Marvel to Infinity War" or "The Russo Brothers say they have no problem adding Captain Marvel."

Either way Carol is a welcome addition

I don't know about that. It's pretty much a foregone conclusion that Carol will show up in at least part 2.

The Russos also tried to cover it up by calling her "Captain Barvel." They knew they made a mistake.

I was there at that Q&A tonight. There was NO DOUBT it was confirmation she's in Infinity War, imo, the way it went down. Joe reacted immediately when he realized what Anthony said, and they both tried hilariously to backtrack but they knew they screwed the pooch and were having a laugh about it. However, they did NOT confirm she'd be in Part 1, so it's nothing we didn't already assume anyway.
