Captain Marvel Captain Marvel General Discussion and Speculation - Part 2

Inhumans in the comics are a product of Kree experimentation and centuries of selective breeding.

A average Inhuman from the Inhuman city state of Attilan pre-exposure to the Terrigen Mist/crystals possessed strength, reaction time, speed, and endurance that are all superior to the finest of human athletes. They also have a 150 year life span.

Kree physiology developed through heavier gravity and higher nitrogen-to-oxygen air content than content Earth.

Kree have denser skin with increased muscles flexibility which gives the Kree endurance, durability, and stamina twice the level of humans. They also have duplicates of several internal organs and usually require more nitrogen to breathe comfortably on earth. Kree women possess psychic abilities.

All humanoid life in the MCU was once said to spawn from the ancient race called Xorrians. Xorrians spawned life-forms such as Kree, Skrulls and Humans. They all share DNA.

The explosion of a Kree machine that grants wishes fuses Carol's DNA with that of Mar-Vell and she effectively becomes a Kree-human hybrid. That's pretty much the gist of it.

Well, isn't that a change from how they are in the comics? IIRC the comic Inhumans are just Kree experiments, not outright hybrids. Or are they and I'm just spewing ignorance.

Still, that doesn't change the fact that - at least so far - Marvel seems to be trying to keep the cinematic universe and the Netflix/tv one separated, which makes what Dasher was suggesting kinda unlikely to happen.

I've only read a few Inhumans issues, so I don't know if it's a change or not. But on Agents of Shield, Inhuman blood is significantly interchangeable with Kree blood in one of the later season 3 stories, so that would seem to indicate that the Kree's experiments in the MCU involved Human/Kree hybridization.

I think the biggest change is the genetic engineering is by using Kree blood (among other things). It's not a hybrid in the sense of interbreeding. I don't think there's any reason to think the comics Inhumans used Kree DNA at all.

Actually, I'd say there's good reason to think they *didn't* use Kree DNA in the comics: its an explicit plot point that Kree evolution is dead-ended, and the Inhumans were one of many experiments to figure out how to jumpstart Kree evolution. Kree do have superpower potential, but except in extraordinary cases its rather limited, much moreso than the Inhumans demonstrate.

Well, that would be one reason to use Kree DNA since they presumably want to jumpstart their own evolution at some point so they could use a base with their DNA in it.

I would be very surprised if they felt the need to change any plans because of AOS.

Damn my prediction almost happened.

Movie rumors from 4chan (Take with a grain of salt)
- Very early stages of production, the studio is meeting with numerous potential directors

- Carol Danvers will be introduced and get her powers in "Avengers: Infinity War" after an encounter with Kree technology during a battle with Thanos

- Yon-Rogg will be the villain

- Writers are still figuring out the supporting cast, but two characters already confirmed are Monica Rambeau and Karla Sofen

- Although he won't be involved in her origin, there are discussions to include Mar-Vell, the original Captain Marvel from the comics

- One of the biggest arguments is whether they should give Carol Danvers a romantic storyline in the movie. There's been talks of adding either Mar-Vell or her original firstg boyfriend Michael Barnett, or maybe even a version of Dr. Philip Lawson, Mar-Vell's secret identity, unaffiliated with Mar-Vell

- The studio is really careful with this one, as they want Captain Marvel to become one of their stahlwart characters

Take with a massive grain of salt. 4chan has a history of completely fabricating stuff and passing it off as spoilers. (Remember when Age of Ultron ended with Hawkeye's death?)

Still I would love if the part about the supporting characters was true.

Some indecision over the choice of the love interest would be understandable. I'm still holding out hope that they can find a way to include Mar-Vell and have him fulfill the role. And then die. :o

As for making Lawson into his own character... meh, sounds like it'd be a waste of everyone's time to me. Pretty lame idea.

Take it with zero grains of salt. James Gunn confirmed that the leaked Guardians info to be ********. So, the rest of the leaks are most likely bs as well.

You mean Ross didn't turn into Red Hulk in Civil War?

All this talk about the Kree has me wondering if the movies will show off Carol's "KREE WARRIOR" side if she gets her powers from those pesky blue aliens. Maybe her KREE WARRIOR side completely takes over at one crucial point as she's about to do battle and when Carol snaps out of it, and hundreds of evil aliens lay unconscious at her feet. "Hala! What happened?!" I kind of like the idea of the split personality between the human and kree warrior. My only caveat would be the unnecessary fainting spells every time Carol transformed between personalities.

I doubt they'll do any split personality stuff. That stuff was removed fairly early and it'll take away from Carol as a badass to make it a dissociative personality.

And if there's something they should never ever do is deprive Captain Marvel of the opportunity to brag about how much of a badass she is while doing cool stuff.

You mean Ross didn't turn into Red Hulk in Civil War?
He probably did when Tony put his call on hold, we just couldn't see it.

I know, right. I should totally consider sending my resume to Disney. :o

New contender to direct Captain Marvel is Rebecca Thomas.

‘Captain Marvel’: New Name Surfaces As Potential Director.

http://heroichollywood.com/captain-marvel-new-name-surfaces-potential-director/

As previously reported, Marvel Studios is narrowing down their list of potential directors for the solo outing of Captain Marvel. The three candidates that were previously reported are Niki Caro (Whale Rider), Lesli Linka Glatter (Ray Donavan) and Lorene Scafaria (Seeking a Friend for the End of the World).

Now it appears that a new name has surfaced: Rebecca Thomas. Mashable’s Jeff Sneider broke the news via Twitter. Thomas is very popular these days as she is attached to Universal’s highly-anticipated live-action Little Mermaid film starring Chloë Grace Moretz. She previously directed the indie drama Electrick Children which is a film about “a young Mormon girl living in an isolated compound who listens to music for the first time and believes she’s become pregnant and must find the father of her miracle baby.”

I almost wish we didn't know about the movie so far in advance because the wait for anything substantial is killer.

Yeah, but apparently we needed a 6th Spider-Man movie, so....

Yeah, I don't really blame Marvel for that since they didn't have much of a choice if they wanted Spidey back in their toy box. The Ant-Man sequel's a different story, though...
