At this point the "people don't know character x" argument needs to die. Comic book readers like myself knew Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant-Man, Dr. Strange, etc. but average joe & jane didn't. Yet their movies were successful. All mcu movies have been financially successful to this point. There will be a failure one day but I highly doubt Captain Marvel is it.

Yeah, if there's one thing Marvel Studios has mastered from a commercial standpoint, it's getting people interested in their heroes - even the ones they've never heard of 'til now.

I'm surprised that people don't have more confidence by now. It's in fans' nature to worry, I guess.

I love what I'm hearing about the movie. It feels like they made a great choice for the lead. A bit of a retro vibe + alien worlds + cosmic powers... sounds like another hit to me. We shall see.

Marvel has built it's studio off making hits out of characters most people have never heard of.

This film has enough elements going for it to be another hit

Why has Coulson never mentioned Captain Marvel in AOS all this time? Or that he even came across anyone like that, especially with all the Kree storylines this past season? He's never even mentioned Mar-Vell.

At least when he was cast in Captain Marvel, the writers should've written in a line into the series so he could reference her. He wasn't cast so late that it all the AOS episodes had already been filmed and it was too late to make any changes.

yes he could be in the movie for a cameo and know about the skrull or w/e but not actually be involved with Carol in any way. he'd be a very low level agent in this time if a full agent at all

Coulson is going to be as rookie as it gets. Probably level 1 if anything so he won't be told things. He might stumble upon them or be there to help Fury in the end. Fury trusted him enough so I think that is what his appearance will show.

well, they do give us solo posters for each hero so that's something I guess.

They were great, yeah. Very classy, gorgeous, memorable.

That's a really nice manip higher in the thread, though, with Captain Marvel in the center.

I'm looking forward to the trailers and marketing getting going for this.

Part of me wonders if Coulson and fury are like the agent jay and k of the marvel u and they’re the ones that change the narrative structure. As in, the whole movie is carol in an interrogation room with them telling them about the skrulls.

Then she has to fight her way out and that’s like the no man’s land sequence of the movie. There has to be a no man’s land type sequence in the movie
