Who I think would be a great choice. :yay:

In fact, I'd be willing to put a small wager on her getting the part.

Emma or Jamie are my picks, especially since both have worked with Disney (as people have pointed out).

If they really do want an 80+ Uncle Ben, then the burglar could just jump out from behind a lamp post and scare him to death rather than actually beating him. Of course, Aunt May and Peter might accidentally have that effect on him too if they plan a birthday surprise and switch on the lights suddenly. :o

Then Peter's angst will be not about letting the burglar escape but ignoring his uncle's warning for no surprise parties, which was for a very valid reason. :o

While Jamie Lee Curtis would be okay, I don't think she carries quite the weight of Emma Thompson's name and acting abilities. Emma is more synonymous with Oscar contender/ winner.

I feel Streep might be a bit too old for what they're going for, although she would've been much better back in 2002. But then she probably would have been even less likely.

You guys know Aunt May has always (616) portrayed as elderly, right? She was never portrayed as being like the other moms. Ben was the older brother of Richard so, there can be something like a 10 year difference. I think Aunt May has to be in her late 50's at least. Not her 40's! I mean I hit 50 and had a daughter graduate high school and a son entering it next year. Aunt May should be someone in her 60's, which I think is how she's portrayed in the comics in the beginning.

^^ Most people around here seem to think you can only have teen children if you're under 40. Any older is simply ridiculous :o

But 60-year olds don't really look like that. She was so decrepit she looked like she was over 80 all the time.

Dark Raven has some weird obsession with making Aunt May a MILF.

No, because I have suggested Emma Thompson and Meryl Streep on numerous occasions. I just don't want May to look like a grandmother.

If she were much younger by about 20 years or so, I would've wanted Julie Andrews for Aunt May.

How about Naomi Watts as Aunt May?

She managed to somehow look older as Princess Diana (even though Diana looked younger and was 36 at the time of her death):

She's already played Tom's mother, so they would have good chemistry together.

Obviously she wouldn't have that awful Diana hairstyle as May.

I like this idea a lot, but I doubt that it'd happen. Somewhere between 45-55 years old should be the actress age for Aunt May.

Yes, but I agree why don't want Aunt May to look like her 80's like that. I think you need to go with more a Meryl Streep or Diane Keaton. They look good for their age, but aren't too young for Aunt May.

Well to make Raven happy, cast Kevin Kline as Uncle Ben. Then for Aunt May, you can cast his wife: Phoebe Cates! :cwink:

While I think Meryl Streep (she was my original choice) and Diane Keaton are AMAZING actresses, they're too old for what Marvel/Sony will most likely go for. We're DEFINITELY going be to getting a younger Aunt May this time around.

I think back when Ditko drew Ben and May, he just drew them looking too old and maybe didn't think about it too much. But then that image stuck and they had to keep to it. People in today's world are healthier and in better shape generally, so they shouldn't look 80 when they're 60 (although Lindsay Lohan looks in her 40s when she's in her 20s :o ).

Phoebe Cates could actually work as May, since she is only Peter's aunt-in-law and not by blood. But then instead of May Reilly, they should make her May Rei Lee to account for her Asian heritage. :o

We did just get a younger May, though, at least in looks. It's possible they'll go older again.

Yes to the idea of Naomi Watts she and Tom have brilliant chemistry. I like Emma Thompson too. :yay: I like the idea of them going younger tbh.

If they went younger with Peter then it would make more sense to go younger with May as well. Going older will look more of an age discrepancy.

Agreed completely. They'll probably go for an even younger looking Aunt May this time around.

Which is why an actress in her 60's in not a bad thing.

And Cates is not full Asian, so she can still be Reilly.

And of course, I'm not advocating Cates for the role of Aunt May.

The only way I would accept a much older May is if she is his great aunt rather than aunt but he merely calls her aunt for simplicity. That would be a fair compromise. Ben can then be Uncle Ben to Richard and would allow for older actors and actresses to be cast. It wouldn't be a great alteration to the story at all but would solve everything.

Aunts can be any age. People can have older brothers. My brother is 10 years older than me. There's no reason Peter can't have an old aunt.
