The reason why younger appeals to me is I don't think you can top Martin Sheen and Sally Field in terms of amazing actors so I'd like a younger version of the characters.

Of course you could top them. There are plenty of other good actors around.

I love Sally Field, but she was totally forgettable as May. Rosemary Harris had the better characterization and scenes.

Probably true but I'm biased to both of them because I've loved them both for years. People can disagree with me of course it's just my opinion.

I thought she was great one of the only really good points of TASM for me. Rosemary Harris was good too.

I think Sally Field was a great Aunt May through her acting, as expected from her. However, I think the relationship between her and Peter was lacking. To me, it felt like they mostly argued with each other.

Sally Field seemed like a crazy cat lady. I want a different characterization this time.

watts is good, but she is more suited for age of peter's parters if they where still alive today. May/ben should be 50-60 yrs old present day, still young yet not to old to be total grandma/grandpa age. Going 40s i think is making may/ben a bit to young. I would say ben/may should be at least 7-10 yrs older then richard and mary. So like someone else said lets say richard and mary where around 25-30 when peter was born. That would put ben/may around 37-40 yrs old at the time peter was born. So flash forever to 15/16 yrs later(richard/mary passed when peter say around 8-10 yrs old lets say). So if richard and mary where alive 15/16 yrs later they should be around early 40s. Then ben and may should be early 50s-60 range.

If Meg Ryan didn't look so plastic, she could've worked as Aunt May. She's 53. She looks definitely old enough, but she has the wrong look, as I don't think May would be having plastic surgery. Her face looks too artificial for May.

But how about Jodie Foster?

Or Anette Benning?

Sally Field was a great May she just had poor material that didn't make sense a lot of the time.

If Marvel did go the grandmother route though, or at least made Aunt May Peter's Great Aunt instead, then one name they could cast that old is Jane Fonda:

Not only would she be a huge name and acting legend along the lines of Robert Redford, but if you gave her the right hairstyle, she would actually look very similar to classic 616 May.

i brought up meg ryan a little while back and pairing her with hanks. But then others brought up he crappy current looks. So then i mentioned michelle phifier. But i dont know how she is looking these days.

Well she certainly looks better than Meg Ryan does:

Other suggestions are Helen Hunt and Susan Sarandon. Helen Hunt actually played AnnaSophia Robb's mother in Soul Surfer.

Susan Sarandon is a bit on the old side though.

I think we Aunt May and Uncle Ben, as with alot of Peter's adult supporting cast, you have to figure they would be in their 30s through 50s. I wouldn't want to see another Aunt May who's in her 60s and 70s.

If Peter is 14 or 15 , then a baby boomer May and Ben would really be too old. You have to think Aunt May would be a relatively young working woman and not a retiree. Actresses like Robyn Wright , Meg Ryan, Laura Dern, etc, would age wise , probably be on the oldest you would go for Aunt May.

I still say 30s or 40s may and ben are just to young. That should be the age range of Prichard and mary if they where alive. Ben and may should be any where in 50s. Same for jjj and robbie should be in the 50 to 55 range. So they can be old school reporters and play off old times stuff. And about 50s robbie wouldn't be to old there for him having randy if they made randy a teen vs holding him off to collage.

50s or early 60s is about the absolute oldest they should go. Having May in her 70s like in the Raimi films is just getting more of a stretch. Everything requires too much explanation - eg that Richard's brother is 20-30 years older than him etc, and it seems as if they would be just doing that to adhere adamantly to the geriatric image of Aunt May and Uncle Ben.

Maybe May and Ben were never meant to be that old in the original Amazing Fantasy, but were just drawn old because Ditko depicted them that way. But as the years have gone by, maybe different writers and artists keep adding to their age such that May now comes across like she's in her 80s and on her death bed.

Some of the Ultimate comics were created to do away with some of the less realistic aspects of the 616. There's probably a reason they made May younger, because it was not only more suitable but more realistic. Having her keep this grandmother image just doesn't work in today's age, especially when people even in their 50s and 60s aren't looking as old as that. She would have to be in her 70s or 80s to have her classic image.

Ya 50s is still fine age for may and ben to be. Not to old to be at deaths bed. But not to young. As 30s or 40s is more suited to be Richard and mary age if they where alive.

I think, just like Feige had Robert Redford cast in The Winter Soldier to pay homage to all the 70s political thrillers like Three Days of the Condor, he'll probably actually cast some of the Brat Pack from the John Hughes movies.

Maybe Ally Sheedy as Aunt May?

Only thing is she looks too fat to be Aunt May.

But maybe some of the others could be in it like Molly Ringwald, Anthony Michael Hall, Judd Nelson, Matthew Broderick or Jon Cryer.

Or even Macaulay Culkin as a villain, although he's from a different era.

How about Steve Martin as Uncle Ben? He was in Planes, Trains and Automobiles and would also have a good old fashioned American uncle vibe.

Or how about Lea Thompson for Aunt May? Not only was she in Some Kind of Wonderful by Hughes, but also Marty McFly's mother as well.

Steve would be pushing it as he is 69 right now. Lea could work she is only 54.

Is Steve really that old? I didn't know. Maybe he could be J Jonah Jameson.

Lea:

Or with a more Aunt May hairstyle:

I would love him as jj. But I still like Jk myself and he is only 60 currently and still looks good for jjj. Maybe Martin could be miles Warren or heck silvermane but I still like idea I brought up for al Pacino for silvermane.

50's is really the youngest they should go with Aunt May and Uncle Ben, IMO. A teen having an aunt and uncle in their 60's isn't implausible.

Totally I know I am a little on older side. I am 30 right now. And my youngest uncle is like 55 and oldest is 66. So going back to when I was 15 I had ones at 50 range.

I still say 50s for ben and may are best to go. So again they are still young and not to old and not to be all weak and always about to die stage.

Same with jjj and robbie should be 55to 60 yrs old. And be old veteran reporters. And looking at the guy who plays ben in netflix dd he is 58 right now. So you want someone on par with that for those guys I say.

Then I would do 30s for brock, and Ned leeds. With glory if not aged down and betty too be in the 20 to 25 yrs old range.
