But the thing we have to remember since we are now with the mcu. We are not just restricted to solo films to have x spidry corner of marvel chsracters. We could see villains, supporting players, etc.... characters now show up in other films, the netflix shows shield and all that now. So instead of thinking oh we only have 3 films and we don't have to cram every little side character in solo film now.

The Chameleon - Matthew Goode

Here's a few clips I found of Kevin Chapman showing off talents that would lend themselves to a stint as Dr. Otto Octavious:

How about Naomi Watts as Aunt May?

She managed to somehow look older as Princess Diana (even though Diana looked younger and was 36 at the time of her death):

She's already played Tom's mother, so they would have good chemistry together.

Obviously she wouldn't have that awful Diana hairstyle as May.

How is that too young? She's more than twice Tom's age. Plus if he is meant to be 15, then she's actually three times his age.

I don't want another Rosemary Harris, who at 70 would be more than four times his age.

I don't see how 46 is in any way too old. A 16 year old kid is logically going to have parent and aunts/uncles in that age range.

She's actually the right age for Tom's Peter.

This. Anything in the 60+ age range would be four times Peter's age. And getting past 70 is nearly fives times.

Just how old is Uncle Ben meant to be?

This all gets too much into grandmother territory, which they should avoid.

At 46, Aunt May and Uncle Ben could still even be 10 years older than Richard and Mary Parker if they were 20 years older than Peter and it would all still work out properly.

No-one is arguing that 46 is too old though.

Yep, exactly. When I was in high school, most of the kids' parents were mid 40's, early 50's. Aunt and Uncles are usually a couple years older or younger.

The reason people are complaining is because they want an Aunt May who looks like this:

When that is not realistic at all for an aunt of a 15-year old boy. Great Aunt perhaps, but not aunt.

If people don't mind May Parker actually being Peter's great aunt, but he merely calls her "aunt" as shorthand or as a term of endearment, then fine. But let's not pretend that someone who looks more like his grandmother really works at all.

Pretty sure it's not about a conceivable age for an aunt, but rather what is accurate to the typical portrayal of Aunt May. Let's be honest, she was always one foot at death's door. :funny:

Wouldn't it be better then just to make Ben and May be Richard's uncle and aunt instead of Ben being his brother? Then he could have entrusted Peter into their care as they were the only surviving relatives. And what else would Peter call them? Great Aunt and Great Uncle would be too clunky, so he would probably just say Aunt and Uncle for simplicity. And that would solve the problem of age while allowing Aunt May to still be nearly one foot in the grave and be as elderly as in the 616.

A small change like that would make the most sense instead of insisting that Ben be Richard's brother.

Otherwise it makes more sense for Ben and May to be much younger than 70 plus years.

It would simplify things more and make it more acceptable, but as rare as it is, vastly large gaps between siblings isn't too uncommon.

Like I said, this is more about fidelity to the classic May. I myself want an Ultimate version.

I don't want someone who looks like a 'grandmother', but I do want a May closer to 60 than 40. It's not that uncommon for kids Tom's age to have parents aged in their 50s, hell, even 60s - so having an Aunt around that age, accounting for maybe 5 years sibling difference, is entirely believable.

I think we're most likely going to get a younger, more Ultimate-esque Aunt May anyways.

40-year old Richard Parker to Peter: Here's your Uncle and Aunt. They may be 50 years older than me and probably haven't got long left in this world, but you're going to stay with them for a while.

Peter: How long is a while if they're both in their twilight years and about to croak?

Richard: Hmm. That's a thought. Maybe I should really leave Peter with a younger friend otherwise he's going to be orphaned again before he's even a teenager.

:o

If you want someone Watt's age, I'd go with Laura Dern.
