Supergirl Casting CWverse Superman for Supergirl

The one I would love to see in the part, would for all practical purposes probably not be able to do it and that would be Sophia Bush.

You know what? I dig that. I dig that very much.

What is it with all this "fan casting" ignoring the things that have been established, such as they are, about characters like Superman and Lois?

It's getting really annoying... as is this clamoring for Tom Welling to play the character when there's zero reason for him to do it and he currently looks like he's pushing 50, which makes him unsuitable for the role.

So apparently Matt Bomer is about 5'9"/5'10" while Mechad Brooks is 6'2".

That will never work having him as Superman. And it's not like Brooks is skinny either. His height and his build will make him look much bigger than Bomer. Camera angles or not, Bomer is going to look like he's a smaller scale than Brooks.

Bomer would look closer to Jeremy Jordan. That's not a look one would want for Superman.

how about Ryan McPartlin (aka Captain Awesome?)

So apparently Matt Bomer is about 5'9"/5'10" while Mechad Brooks is 6'2".
reminds me of back when D.J. Cotrona was up for the role opposite Hammer's 6'5" Batman

ummm, I wonder if he'd be considered?

I think Tom Welling honestly makes the most sense. Superman already exists in this universe, why not make the Smallville universe part of it?

Because Smallville already had a Green Arrow, Flash, Deadshot, Deathstroke, Amanda Waller, Black Canary, Martian Manhunter, Cat Grant, and Hawkman that weren't the ones in this universe.

And because the timelines are entirely different.

Too bad Owain Yeoman already was in Supergirl, he looks exactly like Tim Sale's Superman.

What about other CW actors from other shows?

Jared Padelecki
Ian Somerhalder

Like I said in the first post, Welling ain't an option, neither is Routh (he's Ray Palmer now).

Some pretty good names coming up.

Welling needs to be the one to do it. It would bring back all the old Smallville fans. Also they need to figure out a plot device that keeps him from helping her out every time she gets in a jam. Maybe have him ask her to keep an eye on Metropolis while he's off doing something in deep space or whatever.

Why not Welling?

And Ian Somerhalder? That little pipsqueak? He's 5'9" and maybe 150 lbs

Having Ian Somerhalder in the role would make James Olsen more of an alpha male than Superman. And he's significantly shorter than Brooks as well.

Do we really want to see this:

opposite this:

I can see the CW casting someone like Kristoffer Polaha in the role.

yeah, i still say he should have been cast as lex luthor - he could come off as so charming, then behind doors, a raging beast.

Personally, i wouldn't mind Joe Magnoliolioliolioliolioliolio

The problem is that they've cast someone like Mechad Brooks as Jimmy, so whoever they get as Superman has to be taller and bigger built. That rules out a lot of people.

I wouldn't be surprised if they cast a relative unknown.

But not Tom Welling. :hehe: (not that I want Welling though, just saying)

Speaking of Mehcad Brooks, I really hope S2 either does something drastically new with his character or just drops him outright, as he never really did anything useful in S1. If Kara needs a romantic interest then it needs to be someone who actually has chemistry with her, like Grant Gustin's Flash did....

I'd like to see Bomer as Superman myself but will admit his height & build are a problem. Facially and age-wise though, he'd be perfect!

The characterization of this Jimmy is horrible, they stripped him of everything that I like about the character. If they wanted a black guy for Jimmy they should've gone with someone like Donald Glover. Olsen is a nerd and that's why we love him, this Jimmy is Mr Cool

I don't know why you want to be like this. Where's the bad in having fun with this news?
They're going to be looking at people who are in their mid-30s for the role, because that's how old the character is (he's around 35/36, and is a few years older than Jimmy, who is around 32 years of age and played by 35-year-old Mehcad Brooks).
You contradicted your own argument. If Jimmy is 32, played by a 35 yr old, then they they can cast someone who is in their early 30's to play a mid 30's character. I'm not saying they will, but they can. Have a very great day you and everyone!

God bless you! God bless everyone!

Just throwing another name out there... David Denman.

He looks like he's in his mid forties at least. And he looks like he's getting a double chin and a bit puffy.

If fan casting is annoying to you, this probably isn't the site for you....lol, or any fan site for that matter. :oldrazz: Geeeez we are just having some fun. </span>

I have no problem with fan casting in general; I just find it annoying that so much of it doesn't comport with what we know.

I think you are exactly right.....and thus far Rappaport and Company have done a great job, so I'm excited to see who the choice is....hopefully we will get a big reveal at SDCC 2016, not holding my breath for that, but it would be fun.
