Chapter 4: The Kindness of Strangers Discussion 10/15/2007

And even though we dont know just yet why but it seems the solar eclipse has something to do with it too.

That was what i was thinking. at the season 1 finale
the ecplise that appeared in japan when hiro arrived may have caused kensai to suddenly have that gift

I don't like how they glossed over Parkman's wife being pregnant with her exlovers baby. Especially since in the future episode Matt seemed to be working with HRG(before he turned on him) to protect his son.
They didn't gloss over it. We knew his wife had an affair and we knew his wife was pregnant. there's an episode coming up called "four months ago" that will fill in those gaps.

Wow, last season the Heroes board at NBC was pretty active. Been kinda dead there tonight so far. Was hoping someone there would post the picture of the 12 but so far no luck... :(
That's because people have horrible taste and its actually GOOD so far this year. :o

I think only four people posted since the episode aired! One guy said he would psot the photo but he hasn't so far. :( If he comes back and posts it I will post it here if no one else does before that.

I mean that it was a quick way to brush her aside and write off the character. I think they only did it to get rid of clutter, not because it was relevant to his arc.

They are not recycling powers...not completely anyway.

Charlie/Monica: Charlie's powers of photographic memory (recalling images, sounds, or objects) are not the same as Monica's power to instantaneously learn/copy/mimic/replicate anything she sees.

Kensei/Claire: I have a theory about these powers. I believe that Kensei is really Mr. Petrelli, thus making him Claire's grandfather!!! Please comment about this in my new discussion group http://forums.superherohype.com/showthread.php?t=286762

I really love this show!!!

A few things I noticed:

Micah giving his cousin "sweet dreams" by touching her spine.
The cockroach mysteriously reappeared.
Nana doesn't seem to be one of the 12, and there were no real surprises as to who was in the photo.

They havent written her off yet shes coming back next episode and "4 months later" and probably others.

So are Sylar's powers working normally again (since he was able to kill that dude)? Will he be able to take other folks' powers again?

Not sure if it is important, but anyone else notice that there was a ticking sound in the background around when Sylar was talking to the driver? Artsy way of showing how Sylar thinks (watches), or something more?....

So has Monica always had these powers (the reason she can make good burgers...lol) or did she suddenly discover them because Micah carries that virus like thing that causes/wakens the power within a person?
Where did you get that idea about Micha and a virus?

It just seems like the abilities manifest arbitrarily within these people. Parkman didn't seem to get his powers until he was in his 30's, who knows how long Micah has had his.

no, it's learning. Sylar used the ability in the graphic novel to instantly learn how to drive an 18-wheeler.
Not to argue, but how do we know he didn't get that power from someone else? We didn't see everyone he attacked...

I heard the ticking too but he killed him w/ a brick lol

Dialog was never one of the strong points in this show. Neither was foreshadowing plot points. Sometimes I think the writers believe our IQ's are really low, and make things too obvious.

because that's what Charlie's power was, and because he said so in the graphic novel (iirc).

ANYONE got the SCREENSHOT of the photo of the original 12?

Ah, I see. So it IS open to interpretation. Cool. Then the suprise might not be spoiled after all. Chances are that Parkman finds his dad but it turns out to be a dead end.
uh, no, it's not open to interpretation. Parkman pointed to his father, and she said he's the nightmare man. then Molly said she'd help find Parkman's father and guess what? it was the nightmare man.

Seriously though I've been saying they needed to focus more on Nathan, Sylar and Claire's father, keep good girl characters like Charlie and have less Peter, and then it happened and it was the best episode so far this season. And next week's looks even BETTER. Totally badass. :o
