Christopher Meloni Eyed for Major Role

Quick question, how does one website say they talked to Meloni earlier in the week about his Superman role when it was only revealed yesterday on a different site? And Vulture is quick to call exclusive casting news, it's not like they would politely wait for Deadline to publish their scoop.

he actually does look alot like Sam Lane

We've known for a while that there will be heavy military involvement. Would make sense that there's going to be a general in charge of the military with plenty of air time. I can see Meloni as the skeptical general out to protect the U.S. from an alien invasion -- i.e., the initial reaction to Superman is negative, and militaristic.

I really hope he's not General Lane. That would be entirely too cliche.

Too Hulkish.

I disagree, or at least I think it will come off very different. That's always been the Hulk's thing. He's an uncontrollable monster and the military has always been sort of part of his story.

With Superman, it's a new twist to the story so it will feel different. Historically Superman's always just been accepted with open arms, which is pretty unrealistic. If they're going for realism, then realistically an all powerful alien would be met with skepticism and would need to win people over. Defeating Zod and his alien invasion would do the trick. Just reading the tea leaves, that seems where they're going with this.

I was hoping he was Lex but that's ok. He's going to be great as General "whoever"

What about Bruno Manheim?

I think he would be a great Lex Luthor he would be the most physically intimidating Luthor that we have ever seen on film. He's a great actor and I know whatever role he has he will do it justice.

I'm hearing he'll be playing "a general" -- anyone else?

I doubt it would be Sam Lane, and he doesn't look old enough to be playing an adult Lois' father. Let alone Amy Adams 37.

Perhaps there is an unnamed military antagonist character, IE not someone we can guess.

Lex would be cool, but I doubt that... but I'd enjoy being wrong there.

Please be another General and not Sam Lane.

Yea I said the same, I'm with ya on this anyway.

I guess he calls in them choppers involved

He's 50.

Amy Adams is 36.

So he'd have been a dad at 24... nothing unrealistic about that.

But I imagine they will have Amy portraying a younger Lois than that, so I really don't see how he wouldn't fit for Sam Lane.

Just as long as he's not Thunderbolt Lane.

50 - 36 = 14.
