Ayelet Zurer as Lara Lor-Van El

Ayelet Zurer definitely gave off more emotion in portraying Lara's heartbreak in having to let her son go and even her initial unwillingness to part with him than Susanna York did with her take on Lara in S:TM.

I think more props need to be given to Ayulet. She gave so much more to the character than I have ever seen. She was fantastic and for the first time I liked Lara.

Oh yeah, she's great.

I like her lines and delivery:

"He'll be an outcast...a freak...They'll kill him..."

"I can't do it. I thought I could but...now that he's here..."

Yup, I really like the way she delivered that line

She was really good for the little time she had. And looked good too. ;)

This is probably just me but when she used the word "freak" I went
It was like hearing someone in Gladiator use the word.

I like how in this interview she talks about suddenly thinking about how Superman was created between the two World Wars and how mothers sent off their sons to these wars, while she was filming those scenes.

Also, how being on the Krypton set was like being inside a whale because of the structure:

Loved Ayelet as Lara. Though her screen time was short she was very effective and her delivery was great. A pleasant surprise.

I thought she was the weakest out of everyone. She wasn't awful, and her performance didn't bring the movie down or anything, but I think they could've found someone better. Oh well.

It certainly wasn't Susannah's fault!
York, who was a great and very beautiful actress simply had no room to act with icon Marlon Brando entrenched as the star of STM.

Agreed. The same can be said of Sara Stewart in Batman Begins. She just wasn't given anything at all to work with.

I still love her line about hoping Kal-El can make Earth a better place than Krypton.

She's did a fantastic job as Lara.

I loved it when Zod tried to convince her not to launch the rocket - she kinda hesitates but then goes ahead. She really looked powerful and determined there. Thought she was a great Lara.

I really really liked her casting. She seemed like an epic heroes' mother. I think she would make a great positive version of Hera or a great Hippolyta

Not Hippolyta. That would make Superman and Wonder Woman brother and sister and that would be icky.

Her last scene before she died alone was very powerful. Especially about her last thoughts for her son.

My favorite shot of Ayelet as Lara in the film

IMO, when Lara was saying goodbye to Kal it was as if she was saying goodbye to a lover in a sexy way that she expected to see again rather than saying goodbye to a child that she would never see again.
