The Dark Knight Rises Christopher Nolan Is Doing Batman 3!!!

Well as I and many others in the Supes boards have stated for the past 2-3 years is that elements and scenes from S:TAS, Superman Birthright, Superman For All Seasons, Superman Red Son, and Johns' Brainiac story arc from Action Comics should all be used as influences when creating the story and script for the Supes Reboot film.

Knowing what Nolan did with the Batman franchise by using great Batman stories as templates to influence him on the Bat films stories.....I think it's safe to assume Nolan is smart enough to do the same on the Supes Reboot film.

I wouldn't be surprised if Nolan ends up asking Goyer, Johns, and maybe Morrison to give him the best overall Superman stories Post-Crisis preferably of all time so he can become more educated on the Supes mythos, if he is not already.

Nolan isn't writing or directing Superman. He's mentoring it. That just means he'll be providing guidance and the odd idea. He won't have primary creative control. I would ask why people are freaking out over that, but this is the Hype so I should know better.

However, now that we know Batman III is coming...YAY :applaud

Would love to see Nolans name as Executive Producer when the Supes reboot starts finally comes to the big screen.

Yeah, I can just see the trailer now, just like Inception

From Executive Producer Christopher Nolan

SUPERMAN "WHATEVER THE HECK THE TITLE IS!"

Watching TDK right now and as usual, I get to the interrogation scene and it makes me feel like they just shouldn't even try to keep making these movies. THAT is the pinnacle IMHO.

I have faith that if anyone can break the trilogy curse for comic book films, and if anyone can give a movie like TDK a proper followup, it's Christopher Nolan.

Gotta agree with ya here. There was going to be a third regardless its business. But we are lucky to get such a master director to come back and finish it right. The difference of this and Spidey, is that they have talented screen writers, and no producers bugging Nolan. He has more freedom then most directors.

I don't worry of this at all. People thought TDK was not going to be able to beat BB as well. The trilogy curse is not always the case. And I think like you said if anyone can break this so called "curse" its Nolan.

Iron Man 2 not withstanding, it'll soon be a question if Jon Favreau and his team can deliver a quality 3rd film in their respective series.

The thing that might put a thorn in Iron Man's side is there's the Avengers movie before a potential IM3. Which means the character has to be stretched into 4 movies. Tony Stark the character can easily overcome that but Hollywood has a way of dumbing down our favorite characters over a long period of time. But I have faith Favreau will be able to make Stark worth watching throughout this all

Wow... Spider-man Reboot vs Superman Reboot...
and Avengers vs Batman 3

Now here's a thought...if Nolan is (presumably) directing Batman III, and overseeing Superman, does this open the door to some overlap between the films?

I think Batman and Superman in the same movie would be huge , they have to be working toward this. Also Bale has stated he would stay with the character to do a crossover film in Wizard magazine . it's weird to imagine the two universe's meshing but i'll die happy if they try.

Crossover with Superman will be so awesome.... throw Green Lantern in while we're at it... haha

Christopher Nolan presents:

Superman : The knight of steel

(man of steel + dark knight) :hehe:

I imagine a scene where WB/The Script Writer show him a copy of the first draft.
His response? Burns it with a lit cigarette. His brother John comes in with a box labeled "40 years of history"

Chris: That contains some of the best Superman graphic novels ever written including "Superman for All Seasons" and "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow". Also, all three seasons of Superman: TAS. If you want to make a fraction of the money TDK did and earn the respect of the fanboys and public, you'll go through these

John: Oh and Superman I & II never happened. Pretend they don't exist.

WB/Script Writer: <Stare in awe with jaws dropped>

EDIT:
Here's an idea. Many writers have shown Superman as being literally solar powered.
Let's take it to the logical extreme. If he's weakened by Kryptonite, his cells need to regenerate and recharge themselves but can only do so while he's exposed to the sun.

Imagine Luthor/Metallo using this to their advantage. Kryptonite weakens but can't exactly kill him. But in a weakened sate he'll be pretty vulnerable especially at night when he can't recharge

Nolan needed Goyer to guide him though the infinite Batman comic books, i'm sure he knows just as little about Superman and his comic books. That said, he'll do his research and propose his ideas.

Something tells me Iron Man 2 is not going to be a better movie than film one, at best on par.

Well... expectations are so high these days....

YEAH! :applaud:

-whips out vest shrine-

He goes by Jonah. And Interstellar has been on his plate for years. :oldrazz: Spielberg is quite busy though, so it might be some time before they finally get to it.

As for Chris helping out the Superman series, I wouldn't be too concerned yet. Inception is likely shot with a realistic, gritty feel, but from what we've seen, a huge part of it's fantastical. So he definitely doesn't eschew fantasy if the story calls for it. If he's not directing it, then he's probably going to help out with the story and bringing people together in general, which he excels at.

I think it'll just be a consultant role.

My hope is that Superman himself stays "Sci-Fi" but Metropolis itself becomes more of a "real" city. Maybe that's because I'm not the worlds biggest Superman fan (I like him, just not an avid Superman comic reader) but that's what I'd like to see.

I have friends that are like "Dude, I LOVE Nolans Batman films...but I don't want a dark Superman" and that's where people are messing up, IMHO.

I believe Nolan "gets" Superman and Batman are two different character, I don't think he'll make Superman into Bruce Wayne with blue tights on.

This all points to an eventual Batman/Superman film with Nolan at the helm...maybe even a Justice League flick with him directing. I also hope that because of this we'll get even more Batman films from him and Bale.

Of course Nolan knows they're too different characters, I don't know why people are uptight about his realism. If it was realism I think Nolan would just make Metropolis and the people of Metropolis realistic but have Superman seem unrealistic yet believeable. I'd imagine it would be like Birthright.

Someone brought this up on the Superman boards and said that Nolan will change the suit. I really do think that if this happens, there will be an even bigger fanboy poutrage than there was when he got rid of the permawhite Joker. SHH's servers will be melted for days. :hehe:

I doubt he'd change the suit but I think people are jumping to conclusions they haven't even said he's directing it all the costume decisions are the directors decision.

The only thing I would ask of Nolan as regards Superman is that he PLEASE get a villain other than Luthor. Brainiac would be a welcome change

I'd actually like to see what Nolan would do with Luthor, but I'd imagine Luthor wouldn't be his only villain like with BB and TDK.

The lunatics don't count. The fanbase as a whole is - comparatively - normal. Superman fans are (by far) the worst. Who has time to discuss two colour hues? It's 2010 and they're still going. Wasn't the costume unveiled in 2005!? That's nearly five years talking about freaking colours!

I'm not surprised I mean look what they've had to deal with Superman III, Supergirl, Superman IV, then a nearly fifteen year hiatus with no Superman movie then they got Superman Returns; which wasn't too good and now it seems like they're suffering another hiatus... plus the whole Superman Curse they have to deal with.

You do realize that Nolan loves Donner's Superman right? Watch the Batman Begins special features. Superman: The Movie was a big influence on how he approached Batman Begins.

Yeah he wanted the same feeling of prestige by having big names to carry around Bale. But wasn't Singer a fan of those films.

Other than the huge editing mistake in that scene right? :awesome:

:awesome:This is amazing news.
We have Christopher Nolan back as director.

Somethings bothering me. Remember those rumours that were going round, about the cameos from Mr Freeze and Gordon mentioning Metropolis and Lex Luthor? Then all of a sudden Chris is involved with Superman and that means those rumours are probably true.

But wernt they fake and created by a member at CBM?

Hey guys! its great to hear this news and be back on the boards! Hopefully a official announcement is made soon! I can't wait to hype B3 with you all (:
