^ That bit about him trying to get out of his own enslavement to Darkseid is interesting, and automatically makes him a slightly more interesting/compelling villain than those who try to take over or destroy the world because they want to, or because they worship their leader.

Steppenwolf overall is one of the biggest question marks in JL for me. Never had any interest in seeing him as a CBM villain and honestly still don't, but I'm willing to see how this shakes out.

this will probably portray how desperate Steppenwolf is complete his mission. His own life and freedom is at stake here - so that's an interesting twist to it.
he's not just some cardboard cutout underlling like ronan the accuser seem to be in GotG.

Seriously though, that description is interesting. Makes me wonder if retrieving the Mother Boxes and eventually conquering the world is something he's actually doing just to free himself from Darkseid and ultimately become his own overlord.

Now I think that once beaten Darkseid will be the one to actually eliminate Steppenwolf. Steppenwolf is defeated, at the League's mercy, BOOM TUBE, whisked away and we see Darkseid Omega his butt to oblivion.

I honestly think it would be more in character for Darkseid to vaporize Desaad and keep Steppenwolf alive to serve him longer.

Much more cruel than simply giving him, as Darkseid put in it JLU, "death's sweet release".

And besides we all know Desaad is Darkseid's living breathing punching bag.
