Clark not flying..Its just getting stupid....

I wish the UK could have the latest Smallville Seasons... Were only in season 6 :( I don't want to download them either... I would have to download the rest of 6 and then where you guys are up to in 7... grrrr

Like most fans, I'd love to see Clark finally take to the skies; however, there's one valid reason (from a story point) why he hasn't yet...he's still desperate to be one of us.

As much evidence as he recieves (powers, relatives, messages from his homeworld) to prove he isn't human, the Boy of Steel still desires mortality. To him, flying is the proverbial "last straw". As the Martian Manhunter says during Bizarro, "once you make this choice, there's no going back". In the end, Kal-El will have to put the farmboy aside, and embrace his heritage completely. Until then, he'll be grounded.

look at the show from this perspective and you won't have a problem.

Why not download them...it takes an hour or so. Dude if you love the show it is worth it.

I hate being behind the USA but hey I keep up thanks to the Internet.

I know it's worth it :D I'll download them eventually, but I'm watching Season 6 in UK and don't want to miss anything...

Ahh of course. You can not get ahead of your self....well I cheated and watched season 6 via downloads. Not a great season IMO.

Perfectly logical explanation........however, it's only through Kal-el's acceptance of his 'non-humanity' that he can TRULY become Earth's Greatest Champion......so Clark has got to fly......

I really think that Kara is going to either push him off a building or p*ss him off enough that he turns and flys off.......or Lois could just need to be rescued from a plane falling out of the sky.........

Yeah, that'd be sweet.......:yay:

We need a Claude/Peter moment like in Heroes where Claude keeps pushing Peter untill he gets his act together and uses his powers.

I actually prefer Smallville Clark not flying. It makes him seem more grounded(no pun inteneded.)

Grounded?

What about his other powers? Do they help him seem more grounded?

lexcorp dont be a ***** i het what sloth7d means cus as soon as clark flies thats it he superman rather than clark and so flying has to be done in the last few episodes IMO

Calm down.

For me Clark has not been grounded since he found the fortress of solitude. Flight does not equal Superman. There is so much more that Clark will need to gain if he needs to become Superman. So relax....

He can fly if he wants. But he still has no motive to be Superman yet. Flying will not change that.

I have never read a story about Clark where as soon as he learns to fly he drops everything and becomes less grounded and becomes Superman.

You can get what he is saying but IMO it make no sense.

It honestly makes little sense when everybody else flies. It makes more sense when no one else was doing it.

That's the issue with the creative staff on Smallville. They have not let him fly for so long that now when he needs to (when everyone else can - Kara) he is so far behind from where he should be it makes him look ******ed.

I have a sneaking suspicion that in a "falling Lois" scenario, the writers would probably pull a repeat of Hypnotic, where Clark jumps over the rail, falls past Chloe, and catches her before she hits the ground. They already used a similar situation in Legacy, where Clark caught Jonathan after he fell off the roof.

Same with Santa.

I hope we'll see him fly in the next episode.

Stupid question (I'm a new fan of the show), but if he can't fly, what's he doing in the last shot of the main titles? Sure looks like flying to me.

During the season premiere of season four he was reprogrammed by Jor-El to find crystals that humans should never have gotten their hands on. So, basically, during the reprogramming, Kal-El got all of the powers Clark should have & we saw him fly.

Anything else you want to know?

tom weeling as an actor was in the greenscreen work filmed to fly. tom welling was flying already on SV .

the only reason clark doesnt fly is because of the budget.

uppppppps thats not hte reason anymore since kara is flying :woot:

I just begun the season 4 marathon, and Clark did indeed fly. It looked slightly awkward effectswise - the usual movement/trajectory thing - but otherwise I really liked the clarity of the skies. Sort of pointed towards what I'd want flying to be.

I'm betting that dark_b was drunk there, or something :)

Whoa, hang on. Let me try and wrap my head around this one.

I'm going to ignore the first sentence, because I'm not sure what it means.

However, "tom welling was flying already in SV." You're absolutely correct. Kal-El and Bizarro both flew, and they were both portrayed by Tom Welling. The character of Clark Kent, however, hasn't flown, to date.

With all the characters that fly now, there's no way it's a budget issue. They're just dealing with the story aspect of Clark not being 100% overpowered.

However, I do think they need a Red K episode this year, where Clark flys, because he has no inhibitions, no worrying about whether he's god or man.
