Clark not flying..Its just getting stupid....

SUPERMAN flies

THE FLASH RUNS @ SUPER SPEED

Superman can leap over tall buildings.
If you're going to make a big deal out of comic history, don't loose sight of it. It's ridiculous to make it seem like Superman's most necessary ability is flight.

That was only in the early years .

Maybe to you, But to me & alot of other Superman fans that watch this series,

Clark should already be flying .

There is a reason why the '78 movie's tagline was:

"YOU WILL BELIEVE A MAN CAN FLY"

Flight is Superman's most appealing ability.

He should be flying on Smallville!!!!!!!!!

Not really, different incarnations of Superman have different things happening, I don't mind that he isn't flying.

When were the Superman movies ever said to be canon? You phail.

Excatly

Same with this tagline

"Look! Up in the Sky! It's a Bird...It's a Plane... It's Superman!"

It is pretty lame that everyone else can fly and not Clark. Let's see who flew already off the top of my head.

Jor-El (flashback Ep)
Kara (fake)
Kal-El (Clark)
Zod (Lex)
Martian Manhunter
Bizarro Clark
Kara Zor-El

Oh yeah, and Clark himself was hovering over his bed when he was dreaming about Lana in either season 1 or 2.

Flight is Superman's most 'appealing' ability, eh?

I guess that's why every second character in the world has that power. As far as I'm concerned it's become redundant. Superman is not any one power. It's how he used a combination of his powers to get things done. If they can keep that going on Smallville without him having to fly everywhere, then what the hell, I approve.

We all know he'll be able to fly some day. The fact of the matter is, he hasn't had to yet.

I'm not saying it's not silly that Clark can't fly by now. But it's certainly not as big of a deal as people make it out to be.

I actually disagree with a lot of people here. I don't mind that they never used flying, and I don't mind that they want to wait till the last episode, but the power has lost all of its magic and appeal. Instead of building to the last episode and Clark realizing "Holy ****, I can fly!", with Kara flying around, Clark has become the only kid in the class who doesn't know how to read. Every single person who knows Clark's secret knows now that he will eventually be able to fly. Instead of an awe-inspriing moment, it'll be more like, "Jesus, its about time you started flying." No magic. :(

except that he never flew in Superman The Movie until after he left Smallville

I want to see Clark fly as much as anyone else, but when he does, it's going to be a whole new ballgame, and I'm not sure I want it to be that quite yet.

I'm okay with him not flying until the last few episodes. I think the ability to fly is going to be the lynchpin in him realizing that there's no more excuses for not leaving and fulfilling his destinies. Flight is literally and metaphorically freeing and it's a step that will take him away from Smallville, IMO.

So, I'm okay with it not happening now. Regarding all these other characters that can fly, I totally understand how grating that might be. But honestly, when Clark finally flies, I don't care WHO we've seen fly before on this show - nothing will compare.

I totally agree, I've never really complained about him not being able to fly. I want him to but it's not that big of a deal even if he can't fly.

This is one of my biggest gripes about this version of Clark Kent, they made him too damn cool as a teenager. It's really hard to picture him as The Bumbling Mlid Mannered Reporter : Clark Kent of The Daily Planet in the future .

I don't want any altareations made to the Classic suit Period . (I hated the suit in SR for that .)

Either keep it the classic way or don't show it at all . :cmad:
How did I KNOW you would say that... :oldrazz:

Hey, I'd just as soon keep him in jeans... although a nice suit... and something in leather... wouldn't be bad either. :cwink:

I always thought he could fly. I didnt realize that he couldnt till coming on this board

I really don't mind Clark not being Superman yet or him not being able to fly. Sure, I'd be geeked up if he became Superman in the very next episode but things are cool as they are right now.

leather and i thought the classic suit was homo-erotic :hyper:

Look at it this way, he's not flying and there are still millions of fans out there that can't get enough of SV. It's all about the suspense, the more people that tune in to see whether the next episode will have Clark flying, the more money the show/network makes... You see, people are making money out of our misery... :(
